Is this contempt or ignorance?

Do some people really feel this way about their pets? Just exchange the dead one for a new one?

The nerve or the height of ignorance is just beyond what my brain can comprehend.

I feel sorry for the pets who wait for a good home, only to end up neglected or worse.

I got my buddy Jake through a rescue, so these kind of stories just rip me up.

Stupidity, pure and simple. And a total lack of caring or compassion.

I wonder just what she was thinking... I can't imagine her actually thinking that when you flop the dead one on the counter that they would say "oh ok... here how about this one?"

Geesh... some people...

They oughta throw her outside for a couple of days without any clothes on and see how she likes it. I was looking at a blue heeler from rescue one time. The story behind this dog was that some people caught a bunch of kids hanging this dog from a tree. Luckily, the kids got caught and were charged with animal abuse. I still haven't figured out how someone could do that to an animal.

What does this say about the value of life this individual has?

If this person can simply flop a frozen dog on the counter and expect to exchange it for another one, then what kind of value does this person hold for other people? What kind of value would this individual place on their own offspring?

I have adopted 2 black laps from the local shelter in the last 6 months. They are great dogs and it makes me happy to see them especially knowing that one was to be euthanized the next day when I adopted him. I cant imagine how heartless I would have to be to allow them to freeze to death. I hope that lady does some jail time.

Some just actually don't know any better.

We have a "family" across the road that has their own dog running loose with a Rott they're "babysitting" for someone in jail. The night I got back from deercamp, I just got sttled in front of the T.V. around 10:30 and they were up in our driveway barking. I assumed they were barking at Karen's folks in their driveway next door and let it go a bit. Finally, they hadn't shut up, I knew Karen was gonna be upset cause it was a work night for her, I went out the front door (eyeballing the Sig still on the counter) and grabbed a couple rocks. It was dark but they were still barking as a snuck up on them between the truck and the horse trailer. It looked like they had something pinned under the truck...must be one of the cat's, but I had to be careful it wasn't a skunk or porcupine. They were usually skiddish and I felt fortunate that I could get so close for a good "pitch". As I wound up, the Rott saw me and took off down the driveway. I got her in the rump, but not as good as I'd like. I was ready to throw the 2nd, thinking the other would be catching up to her, but it had stayed and was still barking. I crept around the horse trailer ready to throw and it took off. Now I could see plain as day they did have a cat, but it was not under the truck. It was Elliotte, Karen's 10 year old, long hair. The only one declawed and the only one I liked. The dog took off, I threw the rock, but distracted, I missed. Elliotte layed there gasping. I scooped him up and took him in the house, set him on the floor of the porch and hollared for Karen. She woke up and I got the door open and brought Elliotte to the kitchen counter. While she was on the phone with the animal hospital, Elliotte died. She took him across the road in her pajamas and gave the neighbors their warning. The county paid them a visit the next day too. We had previously had a conversation with them about the dogs coming over with a 4 y.o. outside. We had been flexible, because our dogs had been a problem at times before we got the fence finished. They had only been letting their dogs run only at night.

We have not seen the Rott since, but here her bark on the chain. Lately, the other black dog has been wandering over after dark again. Karens dad had told us his intentions on final arrangements. We have also seen the dog in other places. Karen called her on the phone again to warn her. We were not gonna be barked at by a strange dog in our own driveway, or have him get our dogs going while we try to sleep. If we here him bark on our property, we can only assume he is after another animal and take care of the matter, no more bothersome courtesy calls. They know what all of our backgrounds are, so obviously don't care much for the dog or it wouldn't have gone this far. OBTW, Karen can probably handle the Sig better than me.

Ok...so the lady left the dog outside in the cold while they went away for a few days...WHO WAS FEEDING THE DOG???? If somebody WAS feeding the dog they should have let it inside the house or given it some kinda shelter. That's the kinda person who would run over some kids who accidentally threw a golf ball at the car!
