Ccw
I'm getting my CCW so that I can legally carry (different gripe.) Anyway my pistol of choice is my Para Ordinance P1445. It's a full size pistol that gives me 14 rounds of .45ACP flying trash cans. I carry this in a Galco leather IWB holster on my strong side (right side). With my 511 pants I can carry a spare mag on my left side, but I also plan on getting a double mag carrier for my left side as well. When I’m not toting it, this is also my truck weapon. I can shove the weapon down between the driver's seat and the middle seat of the Chevy and it's readily available if needed.
For times when I can't tote my Para, I have my wife's pistol. I bought her a Taurus .357 Mag 6-shot revolver. It has a 2" ported barrel and no hammer (DAO) and is just perfect for carrying in a pocket (she carries it in her purse.) She also has 2 speed loaders for it that are always nearby.
If you don’t have training, get some before you ever heel up. Front Sight has courses and I’m sure there are places locally that will give you training as well. Once you have some training, make sure you practice with your weapon regularly. When I was home, I tried to go practice once a month even if I didn’t do anything more than a mag through the weapon. There are also shooting drills that you can do in your living room that will help you with your point shooting and familiarization with your weapon.

I didnt read any of the thread, but whatever pistol you choose just make sure that you shoot it and shoot it often (as much as you can afford/take time to)!
Its one thing to carry a gun, but you really need to be proficient with it. Ive seen guys come to the range, set a pop can out about 3-4 yards and shoot at it for no ****, minutes before anyone hit it, notice how I said guys, thats right plural! Once they finally hit it after what seemed like 10 min, and at least 50 rounds between the two of em, they packed there **** up and left as if they were proud of that. Honestly I just wanted to shoot the ******* can so I wouldn't need to watch that anymore
!
Im in no way saying im a master marksman or even a GOOD shot, but cmon, if I shot like that I wouldent stop shooting until I could atleast hit the can
.
Anyways back to the point, whatever you choose to carry, make sure you take some time out to get in some range time!

I carry a XD40 in a CTAC holster using slightly modified C clips. I bent the top clip down so it holds better. Its a full size and I have been thinking that if I get some money together in a couple of months I am going to need to buy a slightly smaller XD for summer, perhaps a XD9 compact or subcompact. I really like the idea of 16+1 instead of 10+1. But as you can see around Christmas time it just disappears on me.
ETA:Pics were taken before modifications were made, it now sits lower with more cant and clips hold tighter. Also finally got a gun belt.

In additon to this post I would also suggest taking a Defensive Pistol shooting course. A lot can be learned from these.
G26 here. Uncle mikes IWB holster. G19 mag in the pocket for spare.
Put 50 in the 10/X rapid @ 10 yards over the weekend. I try to get practice in every weekend or every other weekend with the pistol.

I carry the xd45 with 4" barrel. Use the cheap holster it came with, draws good for me, practice dry draw and aim. Got another holster thats for conceal that goes in the pants.....don't know the name of the company, cost $60, leather, works very well, hate to have to draw in a hurry though. Practice is good, you can practice in your living room unloaded, no mag on your tv. draw and aim to practice aquiring your site picture and posture. Its about repetition so you don't have to think about it, it's just automatic.
