cab change

i have a 74 d 500 dodge dump. also have a 881/2 ton with crumpled fender. 74 is really in bad shape body wise. 88 is very sound. what is possibility of cab bolting on 74. i know the fenders are way off. doesnt have to be perfect just solid. i know with enough time and money one can change anything. just looking for some knowledgeable input.

I've heard of guys mix-matching the 70's and 80's bodies. It may look different but it would probably work. Technically, you'll probably have to have a vehicle inspection, since the 1/2 ton vin isn't rated for what your hauling and the 74 vin will be long gone. you'll probably have to get the new vin application, call a vin inspector out. They should come out for the inspection, issue it a modified vin and fill the form out for you to take in for the new title. Or something similar I guess for your area.

thanks redleg. i am not worried about vin. # think there are #s on the frame just keep both titles tag it for the weight and take my chances.
