Break room, 29 Oct- 4 Nov

Guess I'll fire up another break room cause somebody keeps sleeping in! We all know who it is...

Fresh ground coffee, none if that nasty stuff, Y'all desrerve better than the usual swill. For breakfast it's farm fresh smoked bacon, hand made home fries and fresh eggs from my neighbors hen house. Figured everyone needed a good start to this week with all the crazy weather that's going on.

Battened down the hatch's, generator all fueled and serviced. Drill school with the wife on emergency ops as a refresher since I'll be working during the duration of the storms.

Stay safe folks, y'all have a great week.

Good morning all, rumor has it that we are going to have a good day in the shadow of the Rockies, a chinook is on its way (the atmospheric phenomena, not the helicopter). If the weather guessers are correct we will see the sun this afternoon for the first time in a week. My poor wife is going nuts with cabin fever from the 7 days of overcast. Calgary has the distinction of having the most hours of sunshine of any major North American city. It may be -40 here in January, but it seems more tolerable when it happens under clear, sunny blue skies.

We are going to roast a turkey this afternoon, since we didn't do it a few weeks back for Thanksgiving. Our turkeys are from 2 farms up the road (Google Winter's Turkeys Dalemead). The are free-range and whole grain fed. That makes for a very tasty turkey. Once we get our feed today, they rest will be made into gluten-free pot pies for my sister's family (youngest daughter has celiac disease) and the carcass will be turned into soup. On top of that I have to box up 600lbs of spuds and plow some snow with the quad. I guess it is going to be a busy day once breakfast has settled and I get my butt off the couch.

If the news is even close to accurate, it sounds like Frankenstorm is going to make for a fun week for those of you in the US north-east and south-eastern Canada. Batten down the hatches if you are in the path.

Have a safe day everyone.

Back from IHOP.
Tummy's full.

Just a couple more things to do today before the "FrankenStorm" gets here, like clean the rain gutters, and the basement starwell drain.

Is there ANYTHING the media WON'T hype to try to panic the sheeple?
Folks are cleaning off store shelves and buying generators like it's December 20, 2012........

Have a great rest of your weekend.

keep 'em paniced, keep 'em tuned in to see what happens right after this commercial break to find out if a butterfly in Kansas will flap his wings enough to blow the cold front over the hurricane and instead of rain, you'll get snow and ice and everyone might freeze to death.

Mornig everyone. Well I just got in late last night after a 91.5 hour week. Don't quite know how to log that legally but oh well, the company says they will pay any tickets. I said well that's just great but who's going to take the points away from my perfectly clean driving record for over 40 years? They had no answer.
I work in the oil patch so these aren't uncommon hours. I am just glad the DOT down here kind of tends to turn a blind eye to some of the regs. Either that or I've just been very lucky in the cop I get. I think it's all in how you greet them as it can go down hill pretty quick if that initial greeting isn't a good one. I came up on a semi rollover Thursday morning and I was hauling a D8. I don't know why all the cops were looking at me as I didn't do anything and in fact everything I did was right. I wasn't even near the scene when it happened but no one bothered me so I guess I was just suspect since I was hauling a wide load and getting the stink eye. LOL
Well the coffee is about gone and its some Goooooooooooood stuff. Fresh ground Butter Rum beans with Cinnamon Vanilla creamer. I know, sounds kind of sissy lala but its about as good as it gets unless I have the Chocolate Pinon beans. I have one blueberry bagle and some Cinnamon cream cheese that I'll share. Headed to the grocery store in a bit and I'll restock. I'm kind of envious of Hvytrkmech's menu though.
Hey Heavy, does the neighbor know about these egg thefts? How you getting away with that so them hens aren't having a squak fest? Oh on second thought I may not want to know the answer to this one.
I hope everyone has a great day and you people in the storm areas fair well. Be safe and careful. Jim.

, my neighbor gives me the eggs, couple dozen at a time. He has about 30 chickens so their overflowing with eggs. I brought that stuff into the station and made breakfast for the crew in my house. Poured a little bacon fat onto the home fries then put them under the broiler for 10 minutes. I'm gonna have to go an extra 45 minutes on the treadmill later.

Im not sure if I would log it as I did it or log as it should be.
I think the solution to your points is to make the company pay for you to take the classes to keep the points off your record.
Every oil company I know of has a stop work requirement. if its unsafe, you're obligated to stop working. I'm sure that doesn't apply to the trucking companies.

I don't mind welding near a gas tank, as long as it's plumb full. Gas is OK, water is better.

It's the empty ones that take your head off.
