I've got a bit of a collection currently...

07 V-Strom 650 ABS
04 BMW R1150R Rockster ABS
04 Honda VFR ABS
02 Triumph Thunderbird
02 MV Agusta F4s
01 Moto Guzzi Rosso

My greatest joy is "farkling"..........My wife says I like modifying the bikes more than I like riding them. I mostly do long distance touring. I've ridden to Alaska, many trips to the Rockies and at the drop of a hat I'll head down to the Smokies or up to Nova Scotia and Canada. No better way to see the sights than on two wheels. I camp 98% of the time. Cemeteries, behind fire stations, in the median strip. It don't matter to me.

Here are some pictures of my "Go To" long distance touring machine and some of the "farkles" I've added

Fake second muffler storage compartment

Custom dash with Volt, Temp, Alarm LED,Radar and XM radio receiver

Solar powered mobile office so I can work on the road......

This bike has many more "options"
Electronic Cruise Control
Heated Grips
GPS-XM-MP3 player with Amplirider amplifier
Trip Computer
Headlight Modulator
Brake Light Modulator
LED bulb conversion
Self Cancel turn signals
Gear Indicator

Lots more pictures and ideas here:

Total collection pictures here:

"Keep the rubberside down" and "Watch out for Volvos!"
I guess that's your BMW... I need to buy one of those and do some long distance trips and camping.

I ride mine every chance I get. It was one of the most cost effective purchases I have made in a long time. Not to mention it gets allot of attention because you just don't see many in my area.

Yes it is a 695. I had some fuel problems with it so they put a performance ecu in it which really woke it up. The only thing that I wish it had is the single sided swing arm.

That is a beautiful bike you have there.

Here is my 03 Intruder,

My wifes 81 Suzuki GS 450T, we had it buried in a corner of our shop for the last 7 years, I picked it up for nothing, all it needed was a new ground wire for the magneto, so I fixed that and tuned it up, oil/filter/airfilter and headlight, runs like a champ.

I currently ride a 05 SV650. Good all around bike, though I wish it had more top end pull. But hey, that the nature of a V-twin, it does make tq in a more useable rpm range. Eventually I would like to own a BMW motorcycle. I just love them. Not sure which model yet.

Other bikes I like

Ducati- Any model
Aprilla- Any
Triump- Speed triple, and Rocket
Suzuki- GSXR 1000
Yamaha- FZ1, R1
Confederate- Hellcat
Honda- Goldwing, VTX 1800
KTM- Superduke
Suzuki- V-Strom
Yamaha- Warrior
Yamaha- V-Max
MV Agusta- F4 Brutale
Motto Guzzi- Any

Nope, that's a Suzuki DL650 V-Strom.....Best motorcycle I've ever owned! The only bike I bought twice. I totaled the first one on the way back from Alaska in 06. Went out and bought an 07. Cheap ($6500), super reliable, easy to work on, extremely inexpensive to maintain and tons of after market accessories available. BMW builds a nice bike, but IMO, the V Strom has it beat nine ways to Sunday!

My 2006, packed up and headed for Alaska.....

I have thought about buying one of these. Same great engine that is equipped on the sv. Have you ever ridden the Strom 1000?? If so, what can you tell me about it vs the 650 version. Thanks.

My son has the regular street version of that bike, it halls my fat butt along way faster than I thought it would, it also handles like a dream.

Yes, I've ridden the 1000 extensively. But it is not available with ABS brakes....and I will not tour on a bike without ABS. The 1000 is quite a bit faster, but I find it's not needed. The 650 plain rocks! I know many folks that ride two up with total luggage and have no problems keeping up with anyone.

My SV650 surprizes me how much power small cc's can make. And the power curve is perfect for everyday riding.

What kinda MPG are you getting from the strom? My sv generally gets 47-48 with mixed riding. And my best has been 53.

rbertalotto - I like the Wee Strom! I have to ride one one of these days. Given your choice of farkles, you have to be an ADVRider, no?

I ride as well: ZX-14, Triumph TT Legend, XS650, KLX300R in the stable now. Actually, the ZX is in the shop for a recall. Grrr...
