Get one of those nice camper trailers that follow the bike. Some really nice ones out there. I've even seen a few that have Coleman stoves built into 'em.

This thread made me feel nostalgic. I was about 12 years old when I found a couple of old Royal Enfield bikes in a farmer friends pile of scrap. He gave them to me and I built one out of the two. Think they were 125 cc two strokes. Front suspension was three rubber bands. The magnetos were shot so I converted them to a coil and used a battery. I remember once just for the heck of it installing a big whistle I found on the end of the exhaust. Found out that at any speed at all the sound got higher and higher in pitch and then disappeared. Found it got into the range that bothered dogs and when I turned around to see what the noise was, all the neighborhood dogs were chasing me. I was on a sand road and got a fright with dozens of dogs chasing me, got into a death wobble in the sand and fell in a shower of sand. Fortunately the dogs just came and sniffed me and wondered off.
Another bike was a Triumph 500. It had a horrible vibration at speed that made my hands numb but I drove it for thousands of miles. Many stories about that bike as well. Maybe later will tell some more stories. The Triumph had a spring rear hub.
Last bike was a Honda 750.

GSX1300R

When I'm not lumbering around in my 02 Quad, I ride my 03 Suzuki Hyabusa. I have a few mods done. (the first was by-passing that silly 187 MPH restrictor) I'm putting out close to 170 HP at the rear wheel with a tad over 100 ft lbs of torque.

Yeah, I like to go fast......

Cheers!

I would have to find one with a slide-out, microwave, AC, fridge, satelite TV, full bathroom with outlets for curling irons+hairdriers, plus enough storage for all the wife's stuff!

I do miss being able to take the bike with us when we go vacationing with the 5er. I did take the bike when we had the first TT and carried a 2x6 board ramp. There was always a ditch or embankment to back up to in order to load and unload.

Dragging this topic back up again, I'm getting onto one now, a Nighthawk 650 with 29.5k on it. I will say it's the easiest thing I've changed oil on short of a push mower. Well designed, in my thought, for servicing. Hope it keep running well.

While mine isn't as nice or as fast as some of your bikes, mine gets the job done :

Hey I think that's cool!

I only brought this topic back from the dead since so many of us are getting back onto bikes due to fuel costs. In my case, it's for the first time. I took the MSF course two years ago and am looking to enjoy riding more this year. Be safe and please, everyone - Be on the lookout for motorcycles!

I Love Bikes!.... Any kind, any make, any model!....As long as it's got two wheels, I'm a customer!

I've got a bit of a collection currently...

07 V-Strom 650 ABS
04 BMW R1150R Rockster ABS
04 Honda VFR ABS
02 Triumph Thunderbird
02 MV Agusta F4s
01 Moto Guzzi Rosso

My greatest joy is "farkling"..........My wife says I like modifying the bikes more than I like riding them. I mostly do long distance touring. I've ridden to Alaska, many trips to the Rockies and at the drop of a hat I'll head down to the Smokies or up to Nova Scotia and Canada. No better way to see the sights than on two wheels. I camp 98% of the time. Cemeteries, behind fire stations, in the median strip. It don't matter to me.

Here are some pictures of my "Go To" long distance touring machine and some of the "farkles" I've added

Fake second muffler storage compartment

Custom dash with Volt, Temp, Alarm LED,Radar and XM radio receiver

Solar powered mobile office so I can work on the road......

This bike has many more "options"
Electronic Cruise Control
Heated Grips
GPS-XM-MP3 player with Amplirider amplifier
Trip Computer
Headlight Modulator
Brake Light Modulator
LED bulb conversion
Self Cancel turn signals
Gear Indicator

Lots more pictures and ideas here:

Total collection pictures here:

WOW, hard to believe this thread has been resurrected. I opened it over four years ago. Since then, I’ve ridden a lot of miles and have changed bikes once. I had over 26,000 miles on the Heritage when I upgraded. I now hit the wind on a 2005 Ultra Classic with the big bore kit, a 2 into 1 thunder header and a bit of chrome extras. I’ll turn over 40,000 miles on it this week.

Since 2004, the wife and I have seen a lot more of the great United States on two wheels. We rode to San Diego, Boston, Orlando, Richmond VA, Sturgis (3 times), Yellowstone, Dallas TX and quite a few other destinations. We still have a lot more to see though and hope some day to make the trek and ride to the far northwest (Oregon and Washington) and into Alaska.

Unfortunately, the bike did see the back of a pick-up truck once (had a flat tire) and rode to Florida once in a trailer. Both times, I could hear the bike complain as it definitely wasn’t happy being transported.

This year started slow due to a rotator cuff surgery I had over the winter but the season is here, therapy is over and we are once again in the wind.

Well, if I may post my junk amongst all of this HD stuff, here are my two. One for work and one for long range touring (well, semi long range anyway).
Both bought brand new, the litte one in March of last year and it has 12,000 on it and the big one in November and it is coming up on 5000 miles now.

I still like my Concours for getting back & forth to work, and running errands that don't require a 3/4 ton truck. 40K miles & going strong. 35 MPG, and enough umph to get out of the cagers way.
