A tree that produces soft ball sized fruit. When mature (after it begins to split) it is used to throw at other kids until somebody gets really hurt.
The hurt kid is than carried to their house where somebody knocks on the door and everybody runs before the mother of the hurt kid can id them.
Or so I have heard.

As a former persimmon farmer, we planted them since they weren't affected by root rot that dessimated our avocados on the west slope of the grove, I would have to say 1/4" would most likley support a mature, non pregnant or slightly obese possum.
Of course had I witnessed this directly I would have let the air out of said possum with my .22, which any good young avo farmer would have been packing at that time....

After conferring with my father, he insists the hardiness of the tree, which when alive is more like a hearty vine, would probably support a full grown possum around 3 mm.
You will have to do the conversion, he switched to metric in the 60's...

From what I was told, it did not matter, but was it male or female?
Didn't you mean a persimmon fruit (whatever they are called)?
Finally got my answer - - no wonder my Canadian nuts and bolts will not fit on anything down here that is "normal." .............

Male or female?
You can tell by the bulge at the bottom of the fruit, like avocados, persimmons need male and female pollen to reproduce fruit each year...
What is really going on here...Persimmons, Possums, Pomegranetes??!!??
