Can you believe it? Another storm off the coast of Florida. Thankfully it is heading toward my son and not me. Hey, what am I saying? Still grey skies and rainy here, but at least that sucker is going the other way.

Another day of honey dews - - better get started since Rob was soooo sweet as to wake me up.

Well, got all the fish smoked up. Not all of it came out that great though. One rack wanted to bake instead of smoke. Definitely have to build one myself. This thing just gets too hot. On the 2nd batch, I rotated the racks more frequently and it came out nicer. Of, I've never run the smoker when it's 85 deg. outside. It's usually in the 30' or 40's. Chaikwa, that hickory was certainly useful, although I got a little more creosote than normal. That should go down as the wood ages I think.

 

Cool! Glad you could try it! Isn't creosote what gives it that smokey flavor? Lemme know if it isn't, and I won't soak the next batch of it in that 5 gallon bucket of the stuff I have left over from the 60's!

Spent the day trying to teach pre-school thru 2nd graders fire safety stuff. Had one kid tell me he was scared because he thought there were monsters under the bed. I calmly told him no, there are no monsters under the bed. The monsters are in the closet, SNAKES are under the bed! Michael was not pleased! Oh well, they'll both get over it!

J/K... I'm not quite that heartless!

Two more days and we can head back to sunny Michigan!

Great .... where's that number for my therapist

It was an ugly trip to the dentist yesterday. When she discovered that I didn't share her enthusiasm for dental floss ... it was on !!
She tried to put it in terms that "even you can understand" ... ok.
"You know how if you don't do the periodic maintenance on your car, it tends to break down more ? Same with your teeth, that's whay you must floss more."

So I say's .... Do you check the pressure in your tires twice a day ?
WHY NOT ?? OH MY GOD !!!! Don't you realize that incorrect tire pressure is the leading cause of premature tire wear, poor gas mileage and auto crashes ??
She went for the sharp tools and the drill and things went downhill from there

Looks like a long weekend ... Germans are taking an extra day off and so are we, and it ain't gonna be the same one

Pistol, sounds like how things go when I go to the dentist. Except they don't realize that I'm into trucks and try to put in terms of clothes. I just kind of look at them and shake my head.

I know what you mean. I have an appointment next Tuesday myself, and I'm not looking forward to it. Haven't had a cleaning since I was in high school! I've had a few pulled because they've broken and couldn't be saved, but I've never had a cavity at all. When they yank them, they give me some kinda stuff that makes me not care what they do to me. I don't imagine they'll make that available to me for just a cleaning!

Supposed to be a rainy miserable day here on Saturday. Great weather to start a roadtrip back to Michigan in.

Not much on tap today, got the beatings, I mean meetings over with yesterday and they have shoved me back in my cube.
Need to look for coffee and breakfast. Does Top still bring those ones with the sprinklies on 'em in?

42F here right now, supposed to only get up to about 54 for a high today... Way too early in the year for this. I was gonna go home and spend a few hours painting the wooden doors on the new barn , but it doesnt sound like its gonna be warm enough.. the surface has to be at least 55-57F for the paint to adhere.

and doughnuts are here..Begle, ya dont get any, ya turkey....

PW the thing I hate when I go is when they leave ya sittin gfor a day or two with your mouth filled with tools or propped open with that brace thingy....
make my jaw hurt just thinking about it.
Brrr.. weatherman just said they got snow( 8 inches) in the Dakotas and were gonna be in the low 30's tonight...

Fiver ... make sure you open the windows before you start painting ... wouldn't want you to start hallucinating about throwing snowballs in Alaska ... Mrs. Fiver might not like the pattern .

Went for a loooong run in the forest with the boys. They found the tallest, steepest, muddiest hill in Baden-Wurtemburg ... I looked like the creature from the black lagoon when we got done. Kinda fun coming down the other side though .

Time to get started on the 4 day weekend !!! Last weekend for Volksfest.
