Any members in or near charleston SC?
I'm possibly going to be there for a few days next week, hauling a load into the port, and waiting for another one that is coming off of the boat. I will probably be waiting around for a few days, so , what is there to do in the area?
Thanks, JKM.

I'm planning on going down I81 ( want to avoid Washington and Baltimore , or I would take I95), catching 77 south , and then 26 into Charleston.
That is just a tentative plan for now. Could maybe take a detour on the way home. Any truck stops in the area?

I was there, beautiful place.
04ctd (John) is there. If I can think of anyone else, I'll let you know.
There is a great diesel shop down there, performance diesel, if anything happens while you're there.
If you go to Savannah, Ga, look up Paula Dean's restaurant.

Make sure you head downtown into the old district. You can walk around all day, do some shopping or hit a real nice restaurant. It is rich with history and beauty. I have several uncles that live in Charleston, we usually head down there once a year and i really look forward to it.

Ditto what Tim said. Was stationed there for four and a half years.
You can also tour the U.S.S. Yorktown, take a carriage ride around the Battery, the aquarium is cool. There are also several plantations not far that you can visit. The one we went to was on the Ashley River and had a swamp with alligators in it. You could tour the swamp on a raised boardwalk and see the gators.
Not cheap, but I recommend the top floor of the Harborview Inn (the side facing the harbor).

They also have a new Navy park at the foot of the new bridge with the actual conning tower (and to scale replica made of earth) display of my bro in laws old sub the USS Lewis and Clark. Real cool place to spend a few hours outside reading all the displays.
