Question Any CNC Plasma Table Gurus Out There?

Here's my situation..

I have CorelDraw16 software loaded on a W7Pro 64 bit system, I use it to run my vinyl cutter. I am trying to convert some CAD files to a DXF format so they can be cut on a CNC Plasma Table as well. CD16 by default saves DXF files as "Splines" you have several options for what years of Autocad to save them as.

The two tables I have tried to get to read my DXF (R11, R13,AC 2005 or AC 2008) files are a Koiki Aronson and a Retro System. Neither one could open the files. Further research shows that some CNC machine prefers "Polylines" over the "Splines".

I have found an add on utility that will export the DXF file as a Polyline, Polyarc, Line/Arc or a Line only. I have other options such as toolpath directions ect. If you have any knowledge of the "Inner Thought Process's" of the CNC Plasma Controllers it would be appreciated..

Thanks in advance,

CRR

Noticed that so far nobody had responded to your query and you have always been nice to me so I figured I would bump your post to keep it on top.
I know what a Cad is having some experience with men who's behavior is unprincipled or dishonorable
but I don't have a clue as to anything else except maybe the toothpaste directions.
Just trying to help.

I use sheetcam to open my exported dxf to create/modify the cut paths, lead ins/out nesting etc. sheetcam will use a post processor specific to my machine to export a G-code that Mach3 understands.

I run a bulltear table with candcnc dragon fire electronics package and a hypertherm 65.

Try the line-arc option. It is my preferred solution when getting files from folks using illustrator style programs.

Those using a plasma table should have some form of autocad. There is an add on (free) for autocad I use called spline-to-pline that runs as a lisp within autocad and it converts a spline to poly-line (readable by cnc controls) comprised of a number of sections that can be selected by the user. It has done wonders for me in the past.

Not yet, I'm trying to sub out some work that would help me buy one. The one I'm looking at is 135K so I better get back to work.

Thanks for the input I have seen that system but it is not locally available

I will try that, the shop I went to could open the file with his autocad LT 2006 he said it looked fine, he in turn saved it to a flash stick but it still could not be opened. Their Koiki Aronson table was installed in 2005 and has had no updates done to its software.

Thanks for the help guys
