Big flock of wild turkeys went through my yard this am. Lot's of them around here. I will often sit on the patio with a turkey call just to listen to them answer me.

Re:Any Body for a Traditional Thanksgiving Dinner?

SFtopSGT, we have wild turkeys in our yard too. I lived on a turkey ranch for 10 years as a kid. Too much turkey for me. Thanksgiving should be a kind of hunters return banquet. Not a store bought, ranch raised, stuffed bird. They are the dumbest animal that walks this earth and tries to fly.

Did you know Ben Franklin wanted the Turkey to be the national bird. Almost as bad as the bird, the Loon on the dollar of our friends north of the border.

Would you call someone a Loon or a Turkey. Almost as bad as the DoDo Bird.

Dinner's 'bout 4 o'clock.

Re:Any Body for a Traditional Thanksgiving Dinner?

Speaking of calling turkeys. This guy is out hunting turkeys last year. He is sittin under a tree using a "Turkey Call", waitin for turkeys to come to him. Well he keeps callin and suddenly instead of a turkeys commin a Cougar springs out of near bushes towards him. He quickly raises his gun and fires as Cougar is mid air, hits Cougar. Cougar lands on him mortally wounded but not dead. He gets clawed a couple of times as he pushes himself out from a 200# Cougar.

PETA got involved said he wasn't turkey hunting, should be prosecuted for killing a protected species. Fish and Game had a big investigation. County attorney refused to prosecute.

Moral of Story, don't sit under tree calling turkeys. You may get a lot more than you expected.
