All the more reason to give full support to JROTC programs in the highschools.

Not that I'm a liberal, far from it, but what exactly is this "Major element trying to subvert our schools"? This wouldn't happen to be a secret, evil conspiracy directed by ****'s and Satanists, would it? No, so what is it? As far as I can tell, the evil element in our schools is the elected officials who want to teach children about different cultures and people. I remember the debates in my middle school about parents not wanting their children learning about the Islam faith, which is just a stupid debate.

Anyways, can you please tell me again what the major element is and how it is trying to make ****'s out of our youth?

OH OH OH! (raising hand) I know the answer to this one. The NEA comes to mind.

Begle1, I reread all the posts and no where did I find anyone saying the schools were trying to make ****'s out of our youth. I read it as a comparision, nothing more.

I just have issues because I have to call school after school to find out which ones at a minimum say the pledge any more, let alone pray before a game... That dictates more where I live than other things.

Come on... the pledge...banned in our school?!?!? What's next? No literacy or loyalty requirements to become a citizen? We require applicatns for citizenship to memorize and recite the pledge why not our children?

Go to a ball game and look at all the people not standing during the anthem, how many have hats on, how many talking, etc...

Ticks me off - but I'm a tainted wierdo who's every prior generation has served this country all the way back to the revolutionary war. I'm clearly one of those southern extremists...

Watch out, I have a shotgun, rifle and a 4wd (sorry Hank) reloading press, set of wrenches and a respectful child - I should be put on some Gov. watch list....
