Where are the Americans???

I have been feeling a serious anti-American force taking over this great country and I was hoping that you could help me to re-establish some hope.

I've been trying with everything I am to buy American, made and owned products for the last few years and its darn near impossible. I cant find an adequate 12/10gauge extension cord made by a US company. All my welders are MILLER which IS American but alot of my Milwaukee tools are now bein made overseas. Why? And why do I feel like the only one who cares?

I own a construction/stainless fabrication buisness and I use to stand the least chance of having imports or foreign issues effect me as all the work I do is in America, performed by Americans, in American owned and operated food plants. But in a recent Nestle Waters plant in PA. I found that there was a group of foreigners doing a larger part of the job. The group that hired them said they work for $15 dollars per hour less than me. I tried to speak to them but I dont speak spanish and they spoke NO english. Im sure it is still part of the inauguration process that every new American must be able to speak the language before being let in, RIGHT? Or is that why we cant declare english, the language my fore-fathers wrote the constitution in, the national language? This type of thing used to be relegated to the un-skilled trades.

Now im working in TX and this plant has Chinese made stainless tanks. Thats not supposed to happen. I did that work for several years. The majority of all stainless food machinery and especially tanks come from my part of the world. Springfield Missouri. The main contractor says he purchased all 8 of them from an Ohio company for a great price. Now they're diggin in my pocket. How long will it be before they are doing installation which is 90% of me and the 8(or so) employees I have do now.

Should'nt I be concerned, should'nt you be concerned?

If all of the mom and pop shops are gone, gas stations become a chain owned by foreigners, wal-mart employs the rest of china and mexico makin toys, and then fabrication installation crews are loaded down with people that come from china shipped in a crate that are paid slave labor to do incompetent work, then whats left for the American entreprenuer?

My home town York casket company that employed a few hundred people shut down and they are moving to mexico to deal with the NEW chinese caskets that have hit the market. They dont even bury people in China. So this means I cant even rest in peace in an American casket???

I guess Im the Lone Stranger here but I was hoping that I might here from some other Cummins drivin people that someone still cares. My wife wants me to go back to school for politics and "change the world". I hate to have the "I cant make a difference" approach but Im starting to give up hope. Nobody even wants to talk about it let alone care if you have a genuine approach that tries to eliminate bad trade agreements and help to the American companies.

I'm with ya brother, although if you plan on getting in to politics to change the world, I hope you have a bank account the size of Bill Gates, otherwise you're probably out of luck!!

I'll tell you what, I'm American to the BONE. It's hard to buy something that is not made somewhere else.

Angry

I got this e-mail a few days ago that I think speaks to what you said.

THERE IS A MOUSETRAP IN THE HOUSE!!!

Subject: Mouse story

A Mouse looked through the crack in the wall to see the farmer and his wife open a package.
What food might this contain?" The mouse wondered - he was devastated to discover it was a mousetrap.
Retreating to the farmyard, the mouse proclaimed the warning: There is a mousetrap in the house! There is a mousetrap in the house!"
The chicken clucked and scratched, raised her head and said,"Mr.Mouse,
I can tell this is a grave concern to you, but it is of no consequence to me. I cannot be bothered by it."
The mouse turned to the pig and told him, "There is a mousetrap in the house! There is a mousetrap in the house!"
The pig sympathized, but said, I am so very sorry, Mr.Mouse, but there is nothing I can do about it but pray.
Be assured you are in my prayers." The mouse turned to the cow and said "There is a mousetrap in the house! There is a mousetrap in the house!"
The cow said, "Wow, Mr. Mouse. I'm sorry for you, but it's no skin off my nose."
So, the mouse returned to the house, head down and dejected, to face the farmer's mousetrap alone.
That very night a sound was heard throughout the house -- like the sound of a mousetrap catching its prey.
The farmer's wife rushed to see what was caught. In the darkness, she did not see it was a venomous snake whose tail the trap had caught.
The snake bit the farmer's wife. The farmer rushed her to the hospital , and she returned home with a fever.
Everyone knows you treat a fever with fresh chicken soup, so the farmer took his hatchet to the farmyard for the soup's main Ingredient.
But his wife's sickness continued, so friends and neighbors came to sit with her around the clock.
To feed them, the farmer butchered the pig.
The farmer's wife did not get well; she died.
So many people came for her funeral, the farmer had the cow slaughtered to provide enough meat for all of them.
The mouse looked upon it all from his crack in the wall with great sadness.
So, the next time you hear someone is facing a problem and think it doesn't concern you, remember -- when one of us is threatened, we are all at risk.
We are all involved in this journey called life. We must keep an eye out for one another and make an extra effort to encourage one another.

Keep it civil.
Thanks guys.

Sorry guys I wasnt tryin to start anything I just was looking to gain some hope out of this. I will say I was looking to not start a political discussion for either party. I appreciate the support Brett but I dont want to offend anyones party. I do live in the midwest (i.e. primarily republican voting here).

Wanting it locked is not keeping it civil.. Sounds like fightin words!

I try to buy american made products but they are becoming small and far.

The next best thing is to put money into companies that at least support america.

I frequent many online forums that talk about companies that are beneficial to america, ones that support anti-american views, etc. I will not post links as they may be offensive to some.

Theres alot of reasons why i'll gladly pay more to support america.. IE shop at Lowes instead of (anti)Home(land) Depot.
