So how many of your are driving Ram pickups made in Mexico or other vehicles manufactured in foreign countries or that contain foreign content? How do you rationalize that? Do you practice what you preach?

How does being a union member or not have anything to do with being "American"?

I try to buy american all of the time.. .

Unfortunately I see this all of the time in construction.. I will be driving around job-sites and see crews of another race doing the same job I bid for a ton less!! Thus taking food and a living from me and my guys. I understand being cheaper but you get what you pay for... I have been down that road before and had to return lesser made products so now if I need a tool to get the job done I get the best and nothing less.. But back on the other laborer's I have had calls because they showed up and half done now gone??? I don't change my bid or nothing I will actually charge more to fix someone's mistake..

I agree we are our own enemy's!!

And I don't see why this should be locked due to the fact that he is simply stating the truth.. But what do I know.. I will be getting up at 4 tomorrow to go to work!!

It's called De-industrialization. It started in the mid 70's.

Im just stating facts here folks. We are at the point now where foreign products are an absolute necessity. Look at the tag in the shoes, shirt, glasses you are wearing. The keyboard and monitor you are looking at.

Whats going to happen if we suddenly can't get the product anymore? Will we be able to do it again on our own?

I would gladly pay a little more for my next Dodge Ram and have it built in America. Then their would be more Americans that can support my business
I did a lot of research before I got my American Force wheel adapters, they are made in China or Miami. They cost the same!!

Wow your not looking to be helpful. Thanks for that. But Anyway.......

Am I a proud Dodge owner? YES
Am I more proud of the family heritage of buyin a chrysler product than I am a diehard american? Definatly not.
Chevy/Isuzu
Ford/Mazda
Dodge/Mitsubishi/Mercedes/Cummins
same difference.

Chevy and Ford are doing nothing different with all being forced to buy foreign products, and with the both of their recent financial problems(thanks Toyota/Honda) they are both seeking financial help in some form or another. There is nothing that tells me that they wont have a foreign company(those with all that money and market share) to buy out a percentage if not already.

You show me real proof that the money I pay is gonna stay in America and they will stay an American company then you can bet I will switch to one of the others tomorrow.

DC is up for sale. Chevy is still talking about buying them out real hard and they originally said Ford, UAW, Goodyear, some chinese company, chery, and a few others were thinkin about it too. I read it on Dodge forum and it also gave links to the nytimes and forbes articles about it. I had never heard that one. They said they would be making a decision real soon. The contract with Daimler is up this year anyway. Dodge lost 1.47 BILLION last year. Not a very good return.

My family has been buying them since the 30's. A merger with Chevy/Ford would sure feel like sleeping with the enemy
