Additives

A guy posted this in the fuels/bio section but it isn't getting a lot of hits;

"If biodiesel has the best lubricity rating, why can't you get a gallon size bottle to add yourself?"

This makes sense, but you can't find straight bio around here unless you make it yourself.

Thoughts on why this isn't available??

I'm not a fuels expert, but I will throw my two cents in.

Here on base, the govt uses B100 for all of their diesels. (trucks, not SE or jets) It is the crappiest stuff ever. I'm sure it has to do with the way it is handled, but there is rust and water damage on anything they put it in.

With no demand for it, and the general lack of knowledge on how to take care of it, I doubt it will ever be widely available.

Straight biodiesel has a short shelf life before going rancid. Also collects moisture.

It was that way back in the early 90's at my base for regular diesel...LOL If we went on a goatrope deployment we always had a truck break down due to contaminated fuel... it was regular diesel though.
