acetone in diesel

well the jury is in. 2 tanks of acetone in diesel "2 ounces to 10 gal. best was 18.4 2nd 17.9. without 17.9 and 17.5. tanks were measured within + or- 1 quart. as far as i am concerned driving habits could cause that much difference. so it didnt work for me but i had to try it,

Yeah, I'm playing with it too. I've been making too many weekend highway trips to get a good read on it, hopefully next week's tank will give me definitive results.

Most of my driving is local and I've been getting a repeatable 14.5 mpg doing that. I need to get a couple all local tanks before I make a judgement on whether or not acetone works.

I did get 18.6 mpg over the Spring Fling weekend, that included 3 dyno runs, some smoke shows, several "thrill rides", and an 80 - 85 mph trip home from WV. That's the same kind of mileage I am used to getting cruising at 70 mph. However, that was with a smaller turbine housing - so I am impressed but not convinced. I don't know how much of the change is the hybrid turbo and what, if any, effect the acetone had.

I'm playing with it as well.

I've started with a small amount and working my way up. . . . . . I dunno.

I also tried it found no real difference with my truck, however I have a friend with an older powerstoke who also tried it and can't believe the difference it made in his truck. He is getting much less smoke, smoother running, and much better mileage.

Well, first of all, how much does a 50 gallon drum cost?

2 oz. per 10 gallons is supposed to provide a noticeable increase in fuel economy. http://pesn.com/2005/03/17/6900069_Acetone/

My last tank was 15.1, but there was more highway driving than usual in it. Not convinced yet, gotta do more testing.

IF I bought 50 gallons acetone at once the cops would be searching for dope.

They might find my guns so I'll stick to Walgreens little bottles.

I don't know.. I spent the better part of the night searching the web about this stuff. I found a place that was really piching acetone linke it was the greatest thing since diesel were invented. They talk about magic numbers as far as gass mileage but when it comes down to real time. It's about like above. Hard to measure good or bad. Personally I think with as much trouble we have with injector pumps especially 2nd gen that it would be best to leave it alone. Use it to clean paint brushes.

I filled up on Saturday after a week of my normal commute with no extra highway driving. 14.4 mpg, which is normal. As far as I'm concerned, acetone in diesel is bunk. I'll use the rest of the gallon to wash parts.
