90 Dodge Van Electrical Question
I have an 89 Dodge B250 conversion van with an electrical problem. For some reason it keeps blowing the fusible link for the AC blower and power windows. Why they would put both of these functions on the same fusible link escapes me but anyway. We have replaced the fusible link with a fuse and still having the same problem. It will run 5-15 min before it blows but it is blowing a 40 amp fuse. I do not know what else is on this fuse but all that seems to be affected is the power windows, blower motor, and possibly ac clutch. The ac compressor is new, and we replaced the blower motor switch and it still blows. I am leaning toward the motor because if you leave it off the fuse will not blow. Does anyone have any experence with this problem before we have to pull the hvac system out to check it?

Probably going to find a bad blower motor. I have seen plenty of old blower motors causing higher than normal amperage draw in order to run. If you had a ammeter/dvom that could measure 50+ amps you could measure the load. I think most blower motors should be around 30amps max or so. You are on the right track, especially if your not blowing the fuse until you operate the blower motor.
