A 9-year-old California girl survived a car crash
More lives destroyed by suspected alcohol.
A 9-year-old California girl survived a car crash early this morning and scaled a cliff in darkness to get help for her father, who did not survive the wreck.

Amazing what a child will do to help someone they love, too bad he did not love her as much as she loved him or he would have never allowed her in the car while intoxicated.
I feel sorry for this poor little girl that now has no father but it is kinda hard to feel sorry for somebody that dies because of their own stupidity.

Unfortunately I know of way too many kids that have to live this lifestyle, good kids but where the dad drinks all the time and gets arrested.
As a courtesy the coroner should have gone to the host of the party and let them know that one of his guest, you know the one the one that had his 9 year old daughter with him was killed on the way home from the party when he went off the highway due to impaired judgment, maybe show them pictures of the accident.
You know just as a courtesy.

My dad used to get old issues of The California Highway Patrol magazine from one of his patients and leave them around for me to peruse...Pretty good advice to not drink and drive...and the grisly scenes were black and white!
Maybe having the host/driver present at the autopsy would help them realize they were at bottom....

They need to do something to get their attention, my brother was murdered by a drunk pot smoking driver, never even attempted to slow down, t-boned him at full speed and was out of county in about 2 years and never had to pay a dime.
You kind of loose faith in the system after awhile.

Thank you Tim.
I do feel for the little girl, who did everything she could under the most trying circumstances.
I am going to throw on the fire retardant suit now, when I say that the party host is NOT the problem here. The father who chose to drink and drive is. The responsibility for his family and their safety rests squarely on his shoulders. I am sure nobody was twisting his arm to drink, or to drink and drive. That is a personal choice, period. It is more than time that people started being accountable for their own actions. You know... the way things used to be.
To be stupid enough not only to drive impaired, but with a minor in the vehicle.... Yeah, lets not go there. But once again, its all on him.
Enough ranting on this one. Glad the girl got out alive, and lets just hope that the family is able to move past this, and that things work out well for them in the future.

I took my son to the morgue, wife wasn't to happy about it at first. He was banged up for a week or so but in the end it woke him up to the reality of poor decisions. It also gave him an appreciation for what firefighters and cops really go through. He decided he did not want to follow in his fathers foot steps.

The only one responsible for his condition and actions are HIM. Our siciety has become so fixated on finding a scapegoat for everyones bad actions and decisions.
We have lost the concept of PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY!
Each of us are solely responsible for our actions and the outcome of our decisions. It's not " big tobacoo's" fault if I die due to choosing to smoke,
It was MY choice to start. It's OUR choices that determine our lives and as adults in a free society, no- one is making those choices for us, so why is anyone else responsible?
I feel for the girl, because as a child, she did not have a choice, but to lay any of this on the host of the party is wrong.
Not holding a person to a standard of self- responsibility is at the root of most of our current issues in this country
Ok done now
