Hey JR! What're those outboard wrecker 12 ga. slugs you guys use? Are they the buckhammers? Maybe you could send some along on the project!

No, buckhammers are what I use for deer. While I am sure they could hurt an engine, it's not what the CG uses.

We typically use .50 cal for that sort of thing

I love my Ruger Super Redhawk chambered in a .480, coated S.S., and a 4x Leupold scope, she's good to 100 yds. It is a little expensive to shoot compared to other large pistols. Best I've found around here is $26/20 shots. And Hornady is about the only company that makes em, 325 or 400 gr. XTP. I started reloading for it, been able to get just under 1200 fps out of a 400 grain lead flat point bullet.

12 ga. with slugs 1st option, .44 mag. with 4" barrel 2nd. 45/70 also very potent. Forget the foo foo big recoil handguns. You need something easy to shoot, easy to carry, and deadly.

I'm glad you'll be able to carry your 870. That's the ultimate for sure. It's what I have in the camper and on the Rhino when we go spotlighting only mine's a Winchester Defender with 8 rounds in it of double 00 and 1 oz. slugs loaded alternately. Good luck.
