1965 Chrysler Newport

Sorry guys this isn't a diesel question today. Can anyone tell me what the bolt pattern and off set are on a 1965 newport. The "wheel and tire" shops around here can't tell me jack.

You may also want to look at allpar.com...it's a good chrysler reference.

IIRC, this is good information. I recall my '65 Newport had these measurements for the steel wheels and bias tires on them.

Next question: Why do you ask? I really miss my car - was supposed to be a family project for me and my boys, but a job change and relocation necessitated a quick sale.

I would love to have that vintage of a full size Dodge or Chrysler just for rollin' around town. 2 door, 4 door, don't matter.

Chrysler ruled.

My dad had a '65 Chrysler 2 door hardtop. Light metallic brown, tilt wheel, vinyl top w/383 4 barrel. Reverb and power seats. I used to take my girlfriend out into the country with that thing and...I'll leave it that!

The bolt pattern is a standard 5 on 4 1/2. Offset varied though. Now, if you have some Mopar wheels, make sure they are the correct bolts pattern if you use 14 inch wheels. The Valiants and Darts had an optional 14 inch wheel option back then and they had the smaller bolt pattern of 5 on 4 used on the 13 inch wheels. 1973 was the last year for small and larger bolt patterns. One other change was he Imperials in the early 50's that used the 5 on 5 bolt pattern.

Ford also used the 5 on 4 1/2 for years on it's cars for years. However, the center hole is usually smaller making it difficult to get the wheels tight. So except for the Imperials and Valiants and Darts, Mpar and Ford used 5 on 4 1/2 from the 1040's through 1988 on RWD Mopar cars and the early 90's for Ford RWD cars.

If I think about it, I'll measure the rear offset the next time I'm at my storage shed. I've got several sets of Mopar wheels sitting around that would go on the '65 Chrysler. Like another poster mentioned, Chrysler used left and right hand threads through 1970 so if it has a large L on the end of the stud, left tighty and righty loosey.
