It just gets to me sometimes tho. We see a LOT of people in the course of the year. And I know not every one of them 'gets' the message. I also know that the 98,000+ people we saw this year is but a small fraction of the population. And I know this fire wasn't intentional but it WAS preventable. But still, to see someone who is most likely a multi-millionaire, in a house they paid 1.7 million for AND still has enough left over for a complete renovation job that couldn't be bothered to install a few 10 dollar smoke alarms to protect the things that truly ARE the most valuable things in her life just ticks me off.
I told Michael even before the fire was completely out that I bet the cause was from hot ashes left in a bag or something on the porch. In the news coverage I could clearly see the 'V' pattern extending from the back porch area, continuing right up the rest of the house.
What those poor kids must have gone thru I can't even imagine. We, as firefighters, have a pretty good idea of how it might be to die in a fire. But those kids didn't have a clue. Was it going to hurt? Was it going to hurt MORE? Would it get hotter before someone rescued them. WAS someone going to rescue them? I can only hope the smoke got them before the flames.

I've asked before and never got an answer, so I'll ask AGAIN; what do you DO for a living? I've heard you mention some kind of computer based business with locations in a couple of places. And a pilot. And a mechanic. Solar & wind power engineer. And now a fire inspector? Licensed I assume, since I know of no fire chief that would allow an investigation of his fire scenes by someone who doesn't at least hold certification from the IAAI. I'm assuming of course that you'd have got your license or cert right there in NJ. Did you get it from Charlie Luxton at MCFA or did you go direct thru Kean University?

Hey!! Im still working with this camera. What is the best free way to store video on line for embeding and stuff (like I know what Im talking about).
I notice some of you use photobucket, some youtube etc.

I like photobucket for photos, but the video links break and you can't watch your vid after a while. Use Youtube for vids. I would also suggest a good storage device to save all of your media on.

-Sometimes I’m just not very bright.
-I know, without a doubt, that if I finally figure out how to post this video for my kids and others to see,
that I will suffer terribly under the wrath of wife.
-In some ways, I remind myself of our old dog when he was still with us.
-Occasionaly something would be so irresistible that he would succumb to temptation knowing full well the trouble he would be in.
-Like unattended fresh bread on the kitchen counter.
- He would grab some when nobody was looking, thoroughly enjoy eating it, than be absolutely miserable until he got punished.
-He would throw himself on the floor, head on paws, staring at his toenails until he was chewed out.
-After finally getting told that he was a bad dog he would be so happy and relieved that he would jump for joy.
-Unlike the dog, I would never throw myself on the floor waiting to be punished because I would get my fingers stepped on.
-Also, unlike the dog, I will attempt to put off my punishment for as long as possible in the remote chance that it will lessen with time.
-Also, my wife liked the dog.
-Now, back to trying to post this video.

Goes without saying.
You can post it on Youtube with restricted access for only those that you give the link to. In other words, don't give the link to your wife. It will put off your punishment until someone else gives the link to your wife. And you can threaten other people you DO give the link to in order to delay THEM from giving it to her.

Thanks for the tips. I just now finally got the camera software installed. I had missed the step where it installs the drivers so nothing was working right. I love playing with new toys.
