SUNDAY, CHRISTMAS DAY, DECEMBER 25th:

1776 - Gen. George Washington and his troops crossed the Delaware River for a surprise attack against Hessian forces at Trenton, NJ.

1818 - "Silent Night" was performed for the first time, at the Church of St. Nikolaus in Oberndorff, Austria.

1868 - U.S. President Andrew Johnson granted an unconditional pardon to all persons involved in the Southern rebellion that resulted in the Civil War.

1896 - John Philip Sousa finally titled the melody "The Stars and Stripes Forever."

1914 - During World War I, British and German troops observed an unofficial truce and even playing football together on the Western Front.

1939 - "A Christmas Carol," by Charles Dickens, was read on CBS radio for the first time.

1941 - Hong Kong surrendered to the Japanese.

1962 - The Department of Commerce Census Clock in Washington, DC, recorded the U.S. population on this day as 188,000,000.

1991 - Soviet President Mikhail S. Gorbachev went on television to announce his resignation as leader of a Communist superpower that had already gone out of existence.

1998 - Seven days into their journey, Richard Branson, Steve Fossett and Per Lindstrand of Sweden gave up their attempt to make the first nonstop round-the-world balloon flight. They ditched near Hawaii.

2000 - Over 300 people were killed and dozens were injured by fire at a Christmas party in the Chinese city of Luoyang. The incident occurred at the Dongdu Disco.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
The great essentials of happiness are something to do, something to love and something to hope for.

Coffee's on. In recognition of this special day, it is green. (Don't mind the fuzz that's floating on top) Ph00 ph0r Bobby is ready to be keurig'd.

Wow, I figured he'd be up at 0500 tearing wrapping off wrapping paper and playing with new toys!

I also figured you'd be leaving gumbo or something for Santa!

Merry Christmas Don. Sorry to see you working today but glad you're here!

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO THE GANG.

Hope this one is a super one for all and ya get all the stuff you wanted - - - well, maybe not all the stuff. ........and hope you don't get some things you probably deserve.......

DW got a new car. What did I get? New socks!!!! Somehow that does not seem to compute, but maybe I am just being selfish. ....

OK, off to church - - behave and don't overeat. Keep the tums close by.

Bob

If I got what I deserved, I'd probably be homeless!

She must have been REEEEAL good this year!
The socks were a subliminal message Bob... as in 'put a sock in it'!

Merry Christmas to you both.

Ho Ho Ho from Gunny Clause...

Merry Christmas, my friends. I hope everyone got what they wanted, and were able to give what they wanted to their loved ones.

Bobby, that does not sound right... but that's love for you

I keep seeing DW and DH... I'm sure it stands for wife and husband, but what is the D?

Kids made out good this year, the two older got a 10/22 ruger, and a lot of pretty good smaller stuff.

I got some 12" needle nose pliers, bungee cords and some socket adapters. Angie got some cooking stuff, but our big present is on the wall already, that big dang TV.

Talked to a few of my friends last night that are in the dirt, their Christmas morning was last night for us... they are 11 1/2 hours behind me, 13+ for the east coast guys. I sent my buddy Charlie some yeast, barley, hops, sugar and instructions... if he can't figure it out, that's his fault...

Be safe, everyone I'm very thankful to have a reason to celebrate Christmas, and very thankful to be around friends and family, like you guys!

Ho Ho... BEER!

I think it stands for 'dumb'. Or the other 'd' word that sounds like 'ham' but starts with 'd'. Not very nice for the person being referred to, but it is what it is I guess.

I'm the DJ!

You're the DM.

Thanks for the pie Cougar, it was good! Did you bring enough for everybody else?
