I don't think that the janitor's special blend is gonna help me out today. (I do not think anything short of an 8 hour nap or some illeagal drugs would help either...)

On this date in 1968, I enlisted in the US Navy. For the next 9 years I rode the waves (not WAVES), singing the tunes of "long and black and never comes back" and "four knots to no where" and listening to "You smell funny! What boat are you on?" 39 years later, I'm still in uniform and looking forward to my MRD in 472 days. whoda thunk?

yeah, the old Boomers had a certain FUNK to them.
amine & diesel & cigarettes & butt.
most of the crews had 2 sets of clothes, because you could never really get the smell out.
I can see that things have changed radically since the good old days (?) when boots did 1 week during boot camp and you did 1 month aboard ship mess cooking. Best civilian served chow hall (excuse me, I guess they call them Dining Facilities now)(A rose by any name is still a ......) I ever been stationed with was Rockville Air Station, Iceland. Icelandic civilians ran a real smart facility. Lots of fish though. Second best would be the facilities in the Cheyenne Mountain Complex. (Of course, I only relate to the ones where I was stationed).
Big doings this weekend. Large family gathering. Gotta smoke a couple of salmon (Kings) fresh off the boat, sorta (no pellet food served here, thank you very much
), three racks of ribs and a turkey. Color me busy. The biggest job will be keeping people from opening the smoker door to see "how it's going". Now all I need is some sunshine so we can sit out on the deck, otherwise the house will be t-o-o small.

Company Commanders inspection later. Busy day, like most.

Had one coffee, cut down some old trees. Neighbor comes over offering his chain saw...I decline and continue to cut with the tree saw...he looks at me odd and then returns with a fresh coffee...
Three big trees down, cut into firewood size pieces and its not even 9:00 a.m. here. Time for breakfast and then some tinkering on the trucks.
Enjoy the day...leaves are turning too fast and summer was a blur.
Everyone have fun and send your coordinates for the new sphere launchers aimed FL way.
Lookoufiverbobtheresacloudonthehorizonwithyourname onit !!
