Evenin' All!

Been a bit since I dropped by but I found my way back by the smell.... It hasn't changed much.

Been downright busy the last few weeks. OT, kids and a mile long summertime honey-do list haven't left much spare time. Kids went back to school today. I got one in 4th and 1 in 2nd. I could have swore the both just started kindergarten last year. Time is FLYING!

Finally broke down and fixed the leaky rear mainseal on my truck. That was fun sitting in the driveway. Wouldn't have been too bad but the monsoon raging at the time made it interesting. I could swear it was raining from all directions at once (including from the ground up) several times...... Probably should have used a seal with a speedi sleeve but oh well, it was fun the first time I'm sure that it'll be even better a second if it leaks again. I did drive the seal in just a bit short though just in case. So far, so good.....

Been working the smoker too. seem to be getting pretty good at it . Never much leftovers. I could probably smoke some killer BACON on it........

I'm on nights for the week so keep thew coffee perkin.

Morning all.

Today is Friday, August 19th.

On this day in 1692 - Five women and a clergyman were executed after being convicted of witchcraft in Salem, MA.

1812 - "Old Ironsides" (the USS Constitution) won a battle against the British frigate Guerriere east of Nova Scotia.

1848 - The discovery of gold in California was reported by the New York Herald.

1856 - The process of processing condensed milk was patented by Gail Borden.

1909 - The first car race to be run on brick occurred at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

1921 - Gene Roddenberry was born in El Paso, Texas. Roddenberry's first career was as an airline pilot. Later, he created the TV series Star Trek.

1934 - Adolf Hitler was approved for sole executive power in Germany as Fuehrer.

1942 - About 6,000 Canadian and British soldiers launched a raid against the Germans at Dieppe, France. They suffered about 50 percent casualties.

1996 - A judge sentenced former Arkansas Gov. Jim Guy Tucker to four years probation for his Whitewater crimes.

2004 - Google Inc. stock began selling on the Nasdaq Stock Market. The initial price was set at $85 and ended the day at $100.34 with more than 22 million shares traded.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
The next time you go to a furniture store, ask if they have stool samples.

So much for working hard.

Jeff, my bad but I keep forgetting to offer my sympathy to you since losing Astro. I'm sorry for lagging behind the crowd.

Happy Friday all. Hitting the road in the morning. I've had a once in 50 years opportunity to spend 3 weeks at home with my family and in the summer to boot. It's been great!
