Hi Shortz! Good to see ya back!

Evening to the rest of yiz! Do anything good today?
Thanks Shorts and Scott. It has been a rough week. I didn't mention it earlier because I wasn't ready to talk about it. He was 17 yrs old so we had a really good life with him and in the end it was time and our vet was super amazing helping us. She is a good friend of ours and was even at our wedding four years ago. She asked if we would mind if she held him for a few mins before she gave him the drugs. That was the end for us, all 3 of us - vet, me and DW were bawling the whole rest of the procedure.

We planned on waiting until the fall to get new dogs but I suspect that plan has changed. DW runs a business out of our house and she is alone for about 12 hours every day while I am in the city. The house is just WAY too quiet. Our nearest neighbor is about half a mile away and this house is just empty with just the 2 of us.

A week later, we are finally getting better, but that was a bad week.

I think I get a glass of wine now

Hey Sean - - - sorry about the loss. Putting one down is always tough. In our home the wife is the only one man enough to do it. We guys always have "other" things to do when the time comes. Now, put a nice deer down, no problem - - - that is meat for our survival. But the dog? No way, Jose. And we hear about it for a long time afterwards and still get teased about it. I told her I will try and never let her know I am sick - - I know where I will end up. We also made a pact no more pets. Love them, but no more. We travel too much - - sorta like trying to find someone to keep up my orchids when we are going to be gone for three months. Suddenly we can't find our friends.

Shorts, would have been nice to have won that sucker - - was thinking of all the people who would have their lives changed if it happened.

OK, time to shut this thing down and go join the blonde for the evening. See ya.

Bob

That brought back some powerful memories... and a few tears. Maybe I shouldn't admit it, but I cried harder when I had to put my last lab down than I did when my dad died. Maybe because I understood that dad had lived a long life and it was time to go, where-as the time we have with our 4 legged family members is always too short.

So sorry Sean.

TallGuy... sorry to hear about your dog/family member. I have had to look in the eyes of some of my beloved pets as I put them down, I feel for you. Be strong, brother.

I wouldn't ask for a dime... I'd just be happy for them. And my weakness... ruptured tendon in my elbow and a torn rotator cuff in my right shoulder, maybe my left too. I don't sleep very well. I'm not complaining, I know other members that are a lot worse off than me, but it still bothers the heck out of me.

Evenin, all. Got the garage mostly finished today, that's been something on the agenda for a minute. Detailing the trucks and bike is next... maybe shaving the animals, too.

Monday is coming...

My deepest condolences Sean, I know how you feel my Lab was my shadow for 15 years....I hated to put him down but he was so sick I couldn't bear to see him suffer any longer........

Wow is that the love Ms Shorts I saw poke her head in here? Hope it hasn't been illness that kept you away

Got home after a 12 hr drive with my new to me truck....took a lot of searching but I found what I was looking for, a 2006 Mega cab 4x4 with 30,000 miles on it.

I still have my 96 12 valve, at least for now....My nephew wants it but I don't know if I am ready to sell hahahaha Truck separation disorder I guess..

Everybody have a safe week out there!

Hey! Wait a minute! You told me when you got a new truck I could have that '96 as a company vehicle! First no new coffee pot, then no raise, then no maternity leave and now you're taking away my company truck. What's next? I suppose you have no intention of giving me that corner office you promised me either!

Hey Sean...sorry you had to say good bye to your buddy.... nothing makes it easy.
Scott...wow can I relate to the tears.
I spent the wknd with a bus load of students and parents. Some of the kids where down syndrome, Autistic, Williams Syndrome and others.
Half the kids are special needs and the other half not. They are a band from a high school here... Wow!...Gratitude... Tears... Smiles... Nice

To all my DTR Internet family, I appreciate the thoughts. Even though I have only met a few of you, you all seem to be good people. THAT is why I hang around the breakroom.

I appreciate your thoughts and feelings and I will return same if I ever get the chance.

As a result of cancer, DW and I can't have kids. Our furry kids mean an extra lot to us. The only things I can say to help are:

Love your pets as much and unconditionally as they love you
Remember, when it is time, it is the best thing we can do for them that we can never do for our human family
And finally, if you haven't shed enough tears, this should seal the deal

I've moved a lot of dirt but the worst was digging the hole for my dog.
Set a big ol rock on top once I was done and told everyone why it was there. Someone about lost his head when I came home 2 weeks later and the rock was gone and the hired hand had about dug him up to bury a freakin cow.

Went up to Sidney to Cabela's today. Had a nice ride, even though it rained most of the way. The Amigo got 20 MPG on the way up, and 23 on the way back. Probably actually did better on the way up, when I gassed it in McCook the filler was on the downhill side, sitting level when I filled in Sidney.
Wish I would have waited to refill in Ogalalla. 20+ cent higher in Sidney. Diesel was actually about 30 cents less than gas!

DW and I had to stop at the garden center on the way home, so, 6 hour later we are home and we are BEAT!!! I am just glad that tomorrow is a holiday in Canada.

I hope everyone had a safe and healthy weekend.
A quiet prayer is headed your way.

Morning. Another 430am wakeup, snooze to 6. I missed Game of Thrones last night because I couldn't stay up late enough But watch it this morning so I'm all caught up.

It is another windy morning here. Weather is suppose to turn severe tomorrow late afternoon. Perfect timing - not. I'm picking up my Inlaws from the airport then doing dinner with them and my bro in law & wife. I don't like leaving Chester home alone under severe weather conditions. It's not that he gets scared or anything. Just that I want to be in home in case we have to shelter or get out of the house. I hate the thought of something happening and I'm not here for him.

Oh snap, you got banged around pretty good. I need to catch up on the last two weeks of reading around here and see what you got yourself into. My guess is you and your buddies were playing hot potato with the beer keg.

Good morning all y'all. Today is going to b another of those days that gives me sore muscles. I guess that is what I get for spending all winter sitting on the couch yakking with all of you. Today the garden gets planted. Have I mentioned that our main garden is 1 acre? There are also 4 smaller gardens. The only planting that is really hard for me is the spuds. We got a seed planter 10 years ago that makes seed planting a snap. DW takes pity on me when it comes to planting the onion sets. We usually plant about 400 onions and that much bending over would just about wipe me out

Once the stuff is in the garden, it is time to start up the irrigation system for the first time of the year. Western Irrigation District opened up the irrigation canals on Saturday so we have access to irrigation water again. We pay a small fee for our water permit but it is way better than watering the garden from the well.

I will check in this evening when the work is done. Have a wonderful day everyone.

Clearly Scott you did not hear ALL of what I was saying....you seemed to have missed a few words like "over my dead body" and "go sit in the corner"

Lary - - - you is the man. You get that little whiper snapper. These kids just don't listen - - only think of themselves and what they want. ...........

Wow, got lots done today before the lightning hit underneath my fanny while I was sitting on the ground working on the sprinkler system. At least it felt like that - - man it was close. Light and sound hit simultaneously. Got a little more done after it let up - - - now the rain has settled back in and it is coming down. My poor lawn sure needs it. At least the system is ready to run again. Pool is empty and etching begins in the morning. Can't wait for this mess to be done - - looking good.

OK, grabbing a cup and out of here.

Bobby
