Any of you done balljoints on these trucks?
no way should an 06 ball joints be worn out already!
that would have never happened with old style ball joints with grease zerts and if grease had been applied regularly.
it's too late for you now... but had you used a grease needle to pump Ball joint boots full of grease... odds are they would still be good.
the same for U-joints ... they all used to come with grease zerts and/or a service hole. pumped full of grease ... they too last just about forever...
car mfg don't want major components to last forever... only pass their warranty period...

I think the drag racing and sled pulling on 40" tires with a very wide offset might have contributed just a little tiny tiny bit to premature wear.
Is there really a boot on those ball joints? I don't recall seeing any boots on them.

nah... that's just ruff service... no big deal... it used to be that one would service all grease zerts after a rough 4x4 session.
look at your ball joint... there should be a short rubber boot between your actual ball joints and attachment point. use a grease needle.. puncture then fill up with grease regularly... used to be oil changes included filling up all grease points...
years ago... you NEVER heard of a 2 year old truck's ball joints going out. when joints or any other bearing ... goes dry...game over!
