Re:Virginia Chapter #7 DTR meeting

Everyone met at Williamsburg Dodge about 11:00. There were 14 trucks in attendance initially. There was a good spread of first, second, and third gen trucks from mild to wild for sure. We left there at a little after 12:00 to go down the street to the Candle Factory Restaurant which was an experience in itself, that many trucks rolling out of the parking lot at the same time. We had a good meal and the usual swap parts stories stuff for a while. Then we went outside for some more parts swap stories and the Chapter nerd, er ah, President broke up the stories to talk chapter stuff briefly. We elected a vice president and a secretary (who objected to being called that) for chapter #7. We talked about the Claremont Diesel Truck roundup, Keith (Ramminon) leaving for Mo, and a few other things. Several people had the slippery tire syndrome (STS) and much smoke was coming off their back tires and exhaust pipes all of which upset the restaurant and Christmas shop owners. I promise they will never do it again (till the next time).

I think everyone had a good time and some new friends were made. Chapter #7 is standing at 17 members now and I understand there are 3 more apps on the way to me.

I want to personally thank everyone that showed up for coming and making this a success. I will be busy at work for most of April, all of May, and part of June so this will probably be the last meeting till the June Roundup unless the VP wants to set up a meeting in my absence which is perfectly fine. I'm sure the new chapter secretary will help out.

I posted some pics, in addition to what Ed posted in the thread, on page 23 of the member photos album so check them out when you get a chance.

Thanks again to everyone that showed up and I am looking forward to the June round up.

Re:Virginia Chapter #7 DTR meeting

What a great day! ;D

Thanks to Joel for setting this up and a Big Thanks to Williamsburg Dodge for giving us plenty of space to park and supplying the free coffee. ;D
I think we are going to have to get a parade permit if we keep increasing the number of trucks. It seems that a long line of diesel burnin, straight piped, smoke belchin, rubber squealin trucks tend to disrupt the traffic pattern a little. ;D (And why is it that the Candle Factory lady picked me out of the bunch when she objected to a few burnout exhibitions on the vacant side street?..... My Little Truck wasn't even out there,,,,,, maybe it was the "Caution,,, Does not play well with others" T-shirt I had on,,,, ??? : ,,,
It was good seeing the NC guys, John P., Johnner, and Charles, (ya got to stop leaving Marge at home to do all the work and then you could stay a little longer. ;D ,,) Johnner,, Thanks for the ride! That truck of yours is unbelievable! We missed the Smurfs and hope that Chris (Papa Smurf) will come home safe and sound from over yonder soon. Also hope that Fishcop and 46Mech can make it next time too.
The get-togethers are going to miss Keith (Rammin On), but I know that he will be back every now and then. Funny thing is that he was the one shouting out nominations when we were picking chapter officers.
And BTW,,,,,,, I hope I can do a good job at being the Virginia chapter Vice President. Thanks everyone. (Joel says I ain't got to do anything but look pretty,,,,,,,, Tuff job for me! )
I'm looking forwrd to many more fun days like Saturday. Hopefully, everyone can attend the Big Rig Nationals in April. There is a link to the event on the calender and more information will be showing up as the event gets closer. Click here for some info

Man!! The site should post something with some prominence when there is going to be a meeting. Had I known, I would have taken a little ride yesterday.. :'( I just don't check the Events section all the time. Someone made a comment in another post about Williamsburg Dodge but I guess I just didn't get it!! Oh well, next time.

Ya missed a good day,,,,,,, but, If you would like to join the Virginia Chapter, Just let Joel (Dieseldude4x4) or me know and we will send you the application to fill out and send back. Doesn't cost a thing but the price of a postage stamp!
I think from now on I will start sending out email notices to our members when we start making plans and at least alert them to be on the lookout for information in this section. We would like to have some kind of get-together once a month, so stay tuned for up coming events.

Re:Virginia Chapter #7 DTR meeting

Like others had said, they should have read the messages boards, I wish I would have read the thread to get a chance to talk some diesel talk. It is always a joy to see the Porterfield's trucks in action. Pure entertainment seeing them roll down the highway and leaving big clouds of smoke. With the pictures, looks like I missed out. Maybe next time.

You can join Chapter #7 like JohnP and Banshee did and you will be added to an e-mail notification list that Rattlinram is in the process of developing. Let either Dennis or myself know and one of us will send you an app form. Don't cost a thing except a postage stamp.

I will tell you way ahead of time for now, mark your calendar for June 21st and 22nd to make the Claremont Diesel Truck Roundup. Check the thread out for all details and you can follow the Porterfield smoke cloud up from J-ville.
