OK or North TX DTR please help!

Hello North Texan DTR gang

I'm looking at a 98 12v truck in Oklahoma, near Tulsa,
and would like to have a qualified mechanic take a look for me,
since this is a long distance purchase.

Since there's no OK club listed here, do any of you know of such a mechanic near Ponca City (far as I can tell, Tulsa is the nearest large city) that I could contact to do a prepurchase exam?

Is there a way to tell if the pump/injectors are in good shape?
Never had a diesel before, and I have no idea what all they could look at or tell by examining it.

I'd appreciate any recommendations you guys could make.
Want this truck so I need to move fast.

Thanks, hope i can be a Dodge owner soon

That's a little far for us North Texas guys. Besides, we don't have any 12v's that comes to our meets and know very little about them.

Hopefully, someone closer to Tulsa will be able to help you.

Good Luck!

Give us a rough approximation of the vital statistics: $ K's of miles, truck sig, etc.

You might also try contacting one of these guys. They are probably closer to the Tulsa area than Texas. They have members from Kansas, MO, and Arkansas.

Of our members, member RowJ is the closest.....but probably still 170 miles away or so.

You might also go to the 12 valve forums and post this question and maybe somebody close by might jump in and help you out. Good luck!

thanks for your replies...

Actually just had it go into the diesel mechanic at the Dodge Dealer in Oklahoma City.

98 12v 5speed 4x4. He gave it a clean bill of health, minus a few things not unexpected on an older truck (brakes, powersteering pump leaks)

so I'm good to go...now just gotta get it hauled home to Sacramento...

So if you know of any truckers who go thru Oklahoma City and need a load going west to CA, Please let me know! PM me, I'll get back atcha ASAP.

thanks again, Jenni

Jenni, did you get your truck shipped? I'm here in OKC and can go look at the truck if you need me to. Let me know.
