If the NV5600 is suppose to be gearlube..... that would explain Brians hard grinding shifts.

Just did a search. All members say Brian is right about the RP fluid..."Syncromesh"..... "max"...whatever.
Only other thing mentioned was Amsoils recommended 30wt motor oil...which seems to work well also.

It's the AM, 3rd Gens that take a gear lube...according to MikeyB?????

Ya I remember nothing about the subject now, but I'm sure I did my research beforehand!!

It is weird that dodge went back to gear lube after they had already been using trans with 'closer tolerances' that required an ATF or the like??? If the normal trend has been going to closer tolerant transmissions?

Alright well the belt never quit sqeaking Only around 50k but I guess the water did it in....

Where do I get one of these 'gator' belts that I hear about on here?? What is it going to set me back??

Sucks...

PS did spray water on it to make sure that it was the belt squeaking and not something else...

Quick and easy way to see if its your belt or tensioner/idler making noise is to get a cup of water and slowly poor over the running belt. If the noise stops, it your belt. If it doesnt, its a bearings or something in the drive pullies......

The GatorBack is pretty common. Probably get one at AZ, Napa, etc. I don't remember the price, but something $150.

I dont think you will find em at NAPA...they are in bed with Gates.....which makes the NAPA brand belt.

THe cheaper part stores like OR's and AZ's might have them.....

AND $150.00 for a belt? What crack you smoking?

Someone called my name???

The NV5600 takes a GL4 5w-30 lube. Pennzoil Synchromesh, Amsoil MTF and Redline MTL are good choices. From the specs Royal Purple Synchromax is lighter, more like a 5w-20 which is similar to ATF fluid.
