Clicking noise was there before ball joint work... getting louder now.. I checked the u-joints and could not detect any play... But that doesn't mean they are not bad... Just rotated the tire and checked all the dust shields etc... nothing rubbing smooth as can be.. Lug nuts tight..
If I can get the dang axle nut loose think it is an ok job for me to pull out myself while at school and take somewhere (where?) to have new ujoints put in and new studs pressed in the new unit hub? Just going to do it all... Or will I run into something and wish I would have just takin it somewhere... Tools are somewhat limited at school, but i do have a lot of things here...
Maybe break the axle nuts loose with the truck on the ground?
AXLE SHAFTS
REMOVAL
(1) Raise and support the vehicle.
(2) Remove wheel and tire assembly.
(3) Remove brake caliper and rotor. Refer to
Brakes for procedures.
(4) Remove ABS wheel speed sensor if equipped.
Refer to Brakes for procedures.
(5) Remove the cotter pin and axle hub nut.
(6) Remove hub bearing bolts (Fig. 22) and remove
hub bearing from the steering knuckle.
(7) Remove brake dust shield from knuckle.
(8) Remove axle shaft from the housing. Avoid
damaging the axle shaft oil seal.

Keep John Isaacs (Floor It Diesel) phone number handy next time you do something like this. He said that he couldn't make it down last week....BUT he said to look him up for next year.....I told him you had a good turn out and would have been worth his drive to come down.......
Talked to him at a tractor show this last weekend.......

Aug 4th is out for me (I think). Headed to Paris (Texas, not France) on the 3rd and we're taking the CHL class on Sunday. But no real need to hop on the dyno, as I haven't changed anything in months.

Definitely ABS on the front wnet out and found the wires... Didn't know you could buy a truck w/o nowadays
So looks like two NAPA bearings are in order tomorrow along with some u-joints... Need to find a place to do the u-joints and studs before I pull everything apart...

No, let me clarify. Going to Paris on Friday night/Saturday morning for a graduation party. CHL class is in Grapevine all day on Sunday. If we get back in time on Saturday, I'll try to swing by. Depends on how long ya'll stay at the dyno. If you're back at the Ranch by the time we're on our way home, maybe I'll stop off for a few at the Ranch to put my name on the attendance sheet so I can keep my membership status.

The dyno starts early, so we (I) should be back by early/mid afternoon.
You're right....you need to sign the sheet.
