Re:Calgary and area Owners

So how many thought I was dead-and how many voted for institutionalized??

Been away from here a long long time.....decided to stop in today and see what was going on-and lo and behold I came across this thread. Andy had emailed me about it-but it never worked out for me to attend. Doesn't look like I missed much in the way of the dyno, but it would have been good to see a few of the guys again.....especially Scotty's old pal from Red Deer. Maybe I could have brought my sled in on a sheet of plywood on top of my toolboxes so I could be just as cool as him....... 8)

As for where I've been hiding? Circumstances conspired from the 1st week of December until now to basically suck my will.....the company I contract to sold out to a much larger one which, quite frankly, I hate......well, hate is a strong word-let's say strongly dislike. That, combined with the fact I'm getting evicted due to my brother's impending marriage is gonna shift my area of residence I'm thinking......but I don't know where yet. Hopefully once I get a little more focus as to where my work life is gonna go I'll be able to get a little more excited about the diesel stuff again. I stopped to see Marc here a month or 6 wks. ago when I was in Edmonton. Can't make Fort Qu'Appelle as it's my weekend to work. If you guys are gonna put something together for summer/fall in the city-or a city for that matter-let me know and I'll throw a race tune on the Silver Cloud and head in. Since Calgary (where I made 344 in middling air) I've added the BD2's (which I won there as a door prize), a Piers HX40/16 with a full 4" exhaust and ATS manifold, and got my DragCOMP fixed-I assume it was working properly in Calgary to make those #'s but somewhere between there and the injector install it pooched without me knowing it-until it finally crapped out I could only make 34# boost on 5x5.....after Rod swapped me I can hit that on 1x1....5x5 makes the wastegate work ;D . Anticipating above 400 now.....just how far remains to be seen.......

Jason
Re:Calgary and area Owners

419? Hmmmmmm.....doesn't he still have the stone stock tranny? Maybe someone was feeding a can of ether into the airbox when he was making his run.

I still may change injectors 1 more time to a set of Don M's EDM'd ones.....and I think that'll be about it for me.....should still be enough to stay ahead of Captain Red Deer. :P

Jason

It's really me-you guys aren't that lucky..... ;D I missed the last storm as far as riding went (not quite enough snow here except the ditches by the time the storm subsided)-but it's snowing again right now so I may pull the old girl off the trailer tomorrow for a quick blast in the afternoon......

Jason
Good thing he won't see this-or I might get evicted early......

Troy actually gets more action than me.....can't figure that one out myself.....whaddyagonnado???

J
Re:Calgary and area Owners

Stopped in to Performance Assist (PAAL) today. Was talking to Kevin and he was telling me that they had someone working on their dyno for a few days now and it is up and running properly now. Every aspect of the dyno was reset and calibrated. When BD-Power was up for the last show, their guys had unknowingly recalibrated the dyno in just about every parameter to make their truck show big numbers. That's why everyone else's numbers were way out to lunch. Kevin told me that BD won't be invited back.
They have been running trucks with known HP numbers and it seems to be fairly accurate. They had a few trucks down at the BD-Power dyno day and used those numbers to guage the results on their dyno, they came up with 10-15 HP between the two dyno's.
So, he wanted to put my truck on the rollers and see what it does. Now, I'm a little confused about my numbers. In October, my truck on the BD dyno did 265HP and 748 Torque. This afternoon, it did 294 HP and 927 torque. Is this close to what it should be? We did 4 runs within 15 minutes and they were all fairly consistent and within 7 HP and 40 Torque. Weather was 0 degrees and it was raining.

With regards to Red Deer boy, the guys at PAAL can't stand the dude, but he spends big money to make his truck go. I don't know the exact particulars, but all his truck has is injectors, air intake and a drag box. Tranny has been reworked also. The guys were saying that there is so much fuel going thru the truck that it won't make big power. I don't think it would take much to outpower him.
I also told the guys what Scotty and such were saying about Red Deer boy bailing out of the Calgary Stampede Dyno Day. They just laughed their tails off and said that is typical of what he does. He lets the "stock looking" trucks make thier runs and then he brings his "racy" looking truck in and does a 10 second run(it pulls to much EGT's to go longer) to "spike" the dyno and show big numbers. That explains why he was p'od at me when everyone was saying my truck looked better than his

They are going to have another dyno day sometime in September and Kevin assured me it won't be anything like the last one.

I sure hope I don't sound like I work for the place, I'm just trying to get everything straight. Kevin knows about the tainted rep PAAL has gathered over time and now that he owns it, he is bound and determined to change it.

Anyways, are my numbers realistic?

Re:Calgary and area Owners

Is this the Kevin that worked at several Dodge stores and had a 96 or 97 reg cab 4x2 that got wrecked? He's about 6'4" and 135 pounds. I hope that ain't the guy. :
I also hope PAAL gets it changed around...I just might head out there in Sept. ;D
