My new stereo install
My new stereo install
Hey guys I wanted to share some pics of the new install in case anyone wanted to do one themselves, some times a picture is worth a thousand words and great ideas always seem to stem from good ones. I have lots to do still but wanted to post up some progress pics so far.
The system consists of
Head unit and processing is handled by a Alpine DVA 9861 and Alpine H700
Sub = XXK 2500 bridged to a 15" IDQ mounted in a center console enclosure
Mid Bass = XXK 4150 bridged to 8" JBL 2118s mounted in the stock door location
Mids = XXK 4050 Bridged to HAT L3s in the stock dash location
Tweets = HAT L 1V2 in the sail panels
Heres a shot of the stock floor

Floor with a coat of Rammat BXT

Factory sound deadning on the roof LOL

After BXT treatment

Amp Rack installed and a layer or 2 of 1/8 Neoprene over the BXT

Hope to up date with more pics soon.
Center console enclosure should be finished either tomorrow or the next day.

Looks great, like you know what you're doing, done this before?
What are the amps mounted to? Whaty's the neoprene do?
So your subs are going in the factory console?

Thx Fisherguy, this is my third ram and each system has got a little larger and a little more carried away on the install end.
The amps are mounted to a piece of 3/4" MDF that I wrapped in carpet.

Most shops use a barrier foam (ensolite) to help stop reflections but this Neoprene looks like it will do the same job and since I had it already, I figured I would give it a try? The roof and floor already have a soft material covering so it probably won't do anything in those areas but I was on a roll LOL
Single 15" in the seat part of the center console, the arm rest will bolt back onto same as stock.

VERY nice work!!
One of these days I hope to get time to rewire my entire audio system as well..
What have you figured out for running the wires out to the doors?
Did you go through the factory bulkhead or did you do something different?

The wiring into the doors I havent got to yet but I am thinking it will be the same as the second gen
The plugs on the boot have open spots that you can drill out and fish wires thru, its a job that requires lots of 4 letter words LOL
Fisherguy
There is more room than the second gens behind the seat and I never had any trouble with them over the years....?
Nothing local, all from various audio forums classifieds

Well the sub enclosure is finished but when I have the time I am going to pull it out and recover it with the right colour vinyl and carpet (this grey was all I had and I figured it was closer than it is
) but time doesn't allow for it now.
Heres the enclosure and sub
I used 1/2" mdf and put 3 layers of FG mat on the inside

Carpeted with arm rest and sub loaded

Installed, don't laugh at the colour
