Well GS with a gun is probably OK as long as he hasn't been drinking. Gun days are always fun. I'd rather be about 500yds from my target though. If you can hit 500yd you probably will do ok at 100yds. I didn't know pistols were only good to 20yds. Good thing I didn't know any better.
Christmas was great Chris. Got a few good presents and got to pull the 25ft gneck with the 50hp tractor from N AR to Spgfld and back, nothing beats hearing a cummins working.
Oh a place to shoot. I've got a place right here close to the house GS.
Pistol I might be able to do a 10am but after that got to meet people in Branson.

I'm good with guns, I swear it! I could go further but as Lurch said, its too big of a gun. I think muzzle speed is around 900FPS but with the 45cal bullet its not going to travel well, though I have been testing new bullet. Maybe they will help a bit. I got long range covered, I was looking for something mroe along personal protection here. I live alone so it is a little bit of insurance.

I didn't say it was too big. Just big and slow, bad combo. There are plenty of rounds that will reach out and touch somebody from a pistol. Big and small.

I know what you meant. I just meant I want to be accurate because I am good, not lucky. Placement is key and I don't want to depend on luck for that placement to be right. I want to know I can do it. I want that gun to be an extention of my arm IF I ever need to use it.

Well I suppose I could understand that with all the wives and girlfriend you get lucky with. Oh and deer shooting with potato guns. Well you might have to use it some day....

I took the gun out today. Lurch, people should be scared.... First shot with the gun today, 30yds 12oz beer can, gone. Figure it was luck. Moved up to the 18 yd mark, the next 19 shots were dead on with every beer can. I had 2 clips, unloaded them. Went back to the table, loaded 2 more clips, hit the next four, missed one and then went clear till the end of those 2 clips. This gun is going to become and extention of my arm and it has already started....

Yea, enjoying it quite a bit. Took all the other gins out today as well. Talk about an expensive day at target practice....

What's the new target?

The larger and more exotic the caliber the more it's gonna cost ya. .45 & under isn't too bad if you shop around & buy bulk.

I just bought her one of those flip over style pistol targets that you can shoot the top to reset it instead of walking back and forth all day. It's good for up to .45 ACP. That covers most of our needs.

Yea I have 8,000 round for the .22 (down from 11,000), about 2,000 rounds for the 30-30 (The Winchester and Marlin lever actions), 1,800 for the 30-06, 3,200 for the 20 gauge, 1,200 for the 12 gauge (I can't shot that thing all day or I wake up the next morning shore as can be) and I'm up to about 500 rounds for the .45 Auto already. Either way, its an expensive hobby.

Those targets are nice. I know that walking bit gets annoying. We were shooting at 220yds today with the 30-30 Winchester and every shot I would knock the thing over. Got sick and tired of running out of the four wheeler and having to set it back up. After the 40th shot or so we got sick and tired and just started shooting it as it layed. I was happy with it though, out of the 40 shots, 36 were in a 4in spread. Ther rest all within 8in of center. I love that 30-30 and my buddies do too. Everytime we shoot that thing I get offers to buy it. Its only a 30-30 and it has a nasty reach on it. I have had it since I was 8 yrs old adn that thing is dead on whenever I shoot it. A .45 is all you really need for stoping power, though any gun has stopping power is proper placement. Quality, not quantity! (Though I'm sure if I were ever in a situation I'd snap 2 off just to make sure but I still want to know that only one shot will do the job i ask of it)

Happy New Year!

I'm back at smoking again today. We've stepped it up. I crafted me up a 3rd rack to stick in the smoker. Got 4 racks of ribs and 2 chickens going today. We're cooking now!!! Told the wife not to get too used to it, starting next weekend truck goes in for heart surgery.

A whole new year to screw up

I smoked some salmon for Xmas and did another batch of bacon a couple weeks ago because everybody was crabbing at me about being out. With the move and all haven't really been doing much smoking.
