Trans just took the Big Dump

O.K. This time it is terminal.......

The trans just finally died, completely...

What do I do??????
I need the truck so I am not sure I have time to wait for someone to build me a trans and ship it, then I have to install it. This could take a few weeks.
I am thinking about taking the truck to my local trans shop and having them build me something. But I am concerned that his transmission might not be able to hold up like a Goerend or Suncoast are advertised. (insert your favorite vendor name here)
I am sure his price will be less than a (favorite vendor) trans, but will it only last half as long at half the price.....
I really only want to do this once.
Should I trust buying a used trans off of one of the boards? I will still have to have it shipped and install it my self, but the initial cost will be less and the warranty may be transferable.
Earlier pricing shows that I could be out $6k for the trans I want and that includes me doing the labor.... Just not sure that is feasible at this time...

OPTIONS?????

#6K? What are you planning on doing? Sled pulling, drag racing? Or just towing.
You can get a great trans for Less than $4k.

I talked to Tj and by the time you put in billet shafts and a new billet flexpalte, warranty, fluids and garage time, I was up to $5800.

would you buy a used trans that has been used to pull and put it in your truck..
My feeling is that a hook is worth more than 300 feet. I am thinking that is a lot of slipping and damage.
Your opinion...
Price sounds good....

your talking a 5800 dollar trans for 3k that's a heck of a deal even with a sled pull on it. most the slipping is going to be fluid slip in the TC

The guy that did my tranny is 3 mins from Scott's house... Billet single disc, shift kit, new clutches, seals. It was way under $3k if you are on a tight budget. You plannin on pullin the tranny yourself or droppin it off and having a shop pull it?

Just talked to Lloyd at Mid Atlantic Diesel... He is going to work up a price and I am going to see what it is going to take to get Travis to deliver it to Mt Airy... I am going to have Lloyd do the work...
I just don't have the time or energy to do that kind of heavy work.....
