I need an Alternator. I rebuilt mine but i think the windings are shorting to ground. It got real hot after only 1 minute of run time and wasn't putting out more than 11V.
The rotor was pretty worn @ the brushes contact point.

I did get the thermo too. Just wondering can I do it in the driveway? (replace the W/P ) 2-3 hrs or something?

Right now my truck is taking up space in the Cave until i get the alternator sorted out.
Then you can use it.
You don't have a tile saw do you?

It's leaking about the size of a dollar bill when parked. I'll try it at home Friday, I think you pull the alternator, it's behind that.

I just might have a wet saw, have to find it, let you know.

Well after spending $200 on the alternator my trucks lives again.
Bought a alt rebuild kit, rebuilt the alt and same results. The alt must be shorted out or the diodes are bad. So off to Autozone for a lifetime warranty rebuild for $155 & new serpentine belt.

Thumbs up Note remove the airbox

Finished up the truck at noon today.
NOTE TO SELF AND TO ALL WHEN DOING WATERPUMP/TENSIONER/BELT/TSTAT/HOSES! REMOVE THE AIR BOX!!! That 5 min would have saved me 4 hours on Sat! Found it on a search here.

Scott, wondering if anything is going on at the cave and lift the weekend of the 20th. Leanard said he could repair my tranny for me so i need to pull it out and still fix the rear main seal problem.

Tim you can use the lift. I probably won't be able to help as i have a lot going on with the house right now.
What are Leonard's plans with the trans repair? I don't want to leave a truck sitting on the lift for too long.
