Well i think my Alternator went south on me this morning in the truck. Almost got to work and the Check gauges light came on. The Volt meter was reading below 12v. Checked the alt output and it was only 12.4-13.1. So i see a new alt in my future. Gonna try to limp it home and work on it there.

Just ordered a rebuild kit from Genos for $42 shipped. Rebuilt alt was $180 @ Autozone.

Not sure how many of you visit CompD. Tim, one of the owners lost his house last night. He and his daughter are OK, only minor injuries. His wife was away on business so she is OK also. His entire house is now in his basement. The spot where he and his daughter were in the basement is the only spot that was not filled with the house when it came down. See this thread for more information.

Help Tim out if you can

Well I joined the ranks of the TDI club yesterday. Bought a 06 Jetta TDI Manual (5 speed). Since my work commute starting on Monday is 65 miles one way I figured the fuel savings alone would pay the payment. I will say it is getting harder and harder to find a decent deal on one around here.

I have some Rick. Your welcome to it.
Got all the sheet rock up and finished. Got a coat of Kilz up too. Almost dome with my room. Gonna do the bottom half Ravens Purple and top white.
Then on to laying the tile. Anyone got a tile saw I can borrow?

What am I getting into doing a Water pump?? Getting pump, belt tensioner and idler all while i'm in there, from Geno's.

Our local dealer wanted $600. including 1 gal a/f. At 157K I'm flushing the system.

Tom it sounds like you have everything you need except i'd do the thermostat too while in there.
I need an Alternator. I rebuilt mine but i think the windings are shorting to ground. It got real hot after only 1 minute of run time and wasn't putting out more than 11V.
The rotor was pretty worn @ the brushes contact point.
