Yes the truck is only used as a Tow Rig and Weekend Driver. I just want to put my money in the right place if you know what I mean, I want a good headgasket when I rebuild it and I guess new head bolts. Where should I look for them?

Thanks guys for all your help!

at your power level and usage a marine grade gasket and new headbolts will be fine.

why are you pulling the head? how much pressure are you getting at the oil fill cap? and what does the miss sound like? id hate to see you pull the head for no reason now, have you posted up a thread in the tech section to get some more opinions.

I'm getting noticeable pressure thru the oil fill. Its running better then before. The "miss" tone is the same thru the stacks as is the oil fill cap. Honestly I'd like a 2nd opinion so if someone with more knowledge wants to come.....

I talked to one of our guys at the shop and he hasnt been ina 24v but is pretty sure the head needs to come off....

what time you free tomorrow night? or take a video and post it up for me to listen to.

any smoke with the miss? does it just sound like a popping sound at the stacks/intake like "blub, blub blub" sorry for the really descriptive phrase there. is it constant or erratic?

yes there is smoke. no where near as bad as it was but I figure it was left over fuel between the piston and the stacks burning off.

Thanks again TJ, See ya tomorrow

if the tip of the injector came off in the cylinder i would pull the head just to make sure that piece of metal is not still in the cylinder that could tare up the cylinder walls or take out a valve or valve seat.

The peice of the tip that broke off is so increbably small that it should have passed thru the valve.
