Anyone know about trailer brake controllers on a 99? I don't have power to mine.

What do you mean no power to it? The only time it has power to it is when the trailer is hooked up. If the light doesn't come on with a trailer hooked up there is a broken wire in the harness or a problem with the battery on the trailer.

Red wire from the harness to the controller in the cab. Brake controller does not work so I started there.

Red on most modern controllers is the brake wire (attaches to your brake lights). White is ground, blue is the output back to the trailer, and black is positive battery constant. Which means red won't have power unless the brakes are applied. Hope that helps you.

As a side note, installed my gifts from Santa today, wow can you see a lot in those towing mirrors. Now to just tow something and flip them up and see how well they do. Can't wait to try 'em.

check the fuse/relays box under the hood also.

get a test light and check the plug on your trailer to make sure the power from the trailer battery is flowing to the truck connection. if so start at the connector from the truck harness to the replaceable 7-pin plug on the hitch and work forward. broken wires are common at the rear of the truck do to their exposure to the elements.

Keith we need pics!!
Chris i had a simular problem on mine. There is a bunch of wires on the drivers side under the truck right behind the wheel well. Check them, also mine had a fuse on the drivers side by the battery that would blow when a trailer battery was drawing too much current.

Hey guys, I hope everyone had a good christmas. I wish i got some tow mirrors, i asked for them but didn't get them. But did get my srt10 headlights and my bilstein 5100's and 2 inch leveling kit. Installed the headlights christmas day and installed the leveling kit and shocks today at my dad's shop. Truck rides so much better now with the new shocks.

So far I love them. They even vibrate less than the originals do. Great view behind me. Of course anyone with a 3rd Gen with towing mirrors already knows what I'm talking about.
