lift pump cycle question
I can't seem to find via search the info I am looking for. What is the controlling factor for the LP to run the 25 or 30 seconds when you bump the starter? Does the ECM read pressure and tell the pump to run key on/engine off after failed start?
I can also bump the starter and the LP doesn't cycle.
Anybody point me in the right direction? Thanks!
Jason

The ECM does not have a clue about the pressure on the low input side. All it does is prime the system for 1-3 seconds when you initially turn the key to start it. The 25-30 seconds it runs after you bump the starter was programmed into the ECM so that you could prime the system when needed, like when purging the system from running out of fuel and after changing filters etc.

Thanks Lloyd. Seemed the other day when I was priming the system after two or three starter bumps the LP would not run the 25 or 30 seconds. I thought maybe it followed some logic like the grid heaters due based on several inputs.
Thanks!
Thanks!
