Clutch relining

I want to reline My old clutch, it is a sachs I believe. It has lots of life left and it works perfect towing, I checked the pressure plate and it is good to go.

Is there any shop in MD that will reline this clutch? I asked around and some guys look at Me like I'm crazy is this something shops don't do anymore?

Thank You.

You might be able to call Peter at South Bend and see what he can do.

Thank You. I called southbend and they want to sell Me an upgrade ( I know they have good reputation) when I just want to have the same clutch that has worked perfect so far, relined. Like I said, it works fine and the rest of the parts look like they don't need to be replaced so I don't see the need to buy more things.
After 220k miles it looks 1/2 the material is still left.

Thank You, I will wait for that # if You have it.

relining a clutch is outdated technology. the springs in the pressure plate and the springs in the hub wear out over time and with 220k miles could probably use a freshening up. peter at south bend won't steer you wrong, he is known for his customer service and i know lots of folks who have never had a bad word to say about him. his products are top notch and are worth it.

this is just my 2 cents tho

Old thread but never answered...

So Exekiel69, how did this one sort out? My last one came from Carquest and is functiong fine at 40K miles later. Went to see if a clutch disk was available for my project truck and all they sell now is a kit, same deal with NAPA. What is the current source for a standard 13" Sachs disk and who [other than ePay] sells one today? You guys realize that this will force everybody to start using the cheap 94 & up clutch junk or by a big buxs aftermarket version. I can't see paying more for an aftermarket disk than for a kit, and I can't see buying a kit when all I want to do is replace the disk, throw out bearing, and pilot bushing.
