Bad News....
called the guy to day about pricing up boring and sleeving the cylinder and price for a new piston. he is also going to get me a price on marine pistons and head gasket.
rick does the valve seat and valve look good in the head?

I know you dont need a whole set, but there is a guy in the classifieds that has a set of 24v pistons for sale.. May be cheaper than buying new.....Give it a look see.....Ditto on the help, pm me and let me know.I also have a 2ton hoist that is available.
I talked to MultiMachince today....$650 to bore 20 over, $750 to bored 40 over. I can get a Complete rebuild kit with pistons on the net for $550 shipped to my door. $250 to check out my head.
So I guess I'll be building it myself. They wanted $3600 in labor alone to rebuild it as a long block.
I appreciate all the offers for help! I plan on towing it to my shop in College Park friday night or saturday morning. Don't know when I can start on it, but its half way done since the head already off.
Thanks guys for all the help!
Rick

rick let me know i work right in beltsville college park is a stones throw
now was he talking about boring all 6 cylinders to 20 over or just the one cylinder. depending on the damage to the cylinder it might have to be sleeved. then you would only have to bore one cylinder and put the sleeve in place with a stock piston instead of 6 oversided pistons

Rick, check around and get a few quotes, and maybe some references - there are some here in this thread. I don't know any of these machine shops around here, but its always good to make an informed decision. You want it done right the first time, not the second time.
Those qoutes are for all 6. If I have to get into a Sleeve I'm looking around $1600.
skynyrd, Where abouts? I work for Hydra-Lift and We are off branchville rd and Rhoad Island Ave.
bulabula, Multimachince is the company we deal with thru work, so I'll be getting a little better price and they have done excellent work for us for many years.
Thanks
Rick
