Need help with high idle
I just installed cruise switches on my truck, but my high idle feature was not enabled from the factory and my dealership doesnt seem too knowledgable about the diesels.
Does anybody local know where I can get my high idle enabled, knowledgable dealer or otherwise? Any help would be appreciated.

Put some kind of a description in your location field, too , under the user cp. There may be someone nearby that can help. Print the above link as well, and take it to your dealer. The instructions are spot on , as far as turning it on!
if you take it to keene they will charge you like $45... did it with my 05, and im glad i did. ended up getting my comp adj for my upgraded tire size. charged me $45 total for everything.
I just called the dealership where I bought the truck, get it serviced and where I have bought parts from and they tell me it will cost $85.10 to get it enabled.
$85.10....thats crazy. I need to find a new dealership! Guess Ill try Keene

They actually spent part of a day with mine trying to figure out why it was not working, not thinking about the clutch bypass. I have never had any bill sent to me for it, nor have I ever paid a bill.
Yeah, thats cause you have a 6-speed and they prolly didnt know about grounding that pin...
Thanks to the knowledgable people on this site, I have a step by step list of what to press on the scan tool...A monkey could do it in less than 5 minutes.
If I may ask, what dealership did you use?

I mentioned this in the other thread as well, but I think your biggest leverage will be to call your salesman and explain the situation. It'll be his LAST sale with YOU unless he gets soemthing done about it. It is a feature offered on your truck that they wnat to CHARGE to enable? Thats like saying they will charge extra to check the air in the tires at an oil change. It is just one of those things that they have to do for good customer service. If I had a nickel for every check engine light I've ever checked for free, I'd be a rich man. Sometimes I get the job to repair, others not. It's a gamble, but I have gained MANY customers from doing the "little" things. Hey......I add a little to the bill when I do repair it to make up for it too! And I never forget the one's that don't have me fix it.......don't have a lot of time right now......I can make an appointment for them though!

I just called Keene Dodge. The service guy i spoke to knew exactly what I was talking about(unlike the other dealership) and said that it only takes a few minutes. He told me to bring it by and they would take care of it. I think I found a new dealership!
Hey VZ, everything you said above^^^is true. I have no problem paying a reasonable price for a service. Like you said, its the little things that count. I was faithful with this dealer: bought truck, bought parts, had it serviced there. Not anymore.
