it's official: Nissan + Cummins
Fred Diaz making the move to Nissan is starting to pay off already...

I guess DTR will have to add a new sub-forum for these, after all its tag-line is "Your Dodge Ram AND Cummins Turbo Diesel Source"...right?

No, it's a V8. The one they installed in a Titan previously for a gov't trial was an I-4. Not sure where 5cyl came from.
Here's another, more detailed article for you all:

I agree, Ram should be kicking themselves for letting this slip through their fingers back in 2008. Now they have to share the big "C" logo with...Nissan (as the article points out).

From a guy I know on an old tractor site:
"Its official, Cummins, Inc is partnering with Nissan to put a 5.0L V8 Turbo Diesel in the next generation of Titan pickup trucks! This has been at least 3 years in the making and I have been working on that project that long. Its really exciting as they are going to be produced in the original Cummins Plant 1 CEP in Columbus, IN, the site where it all began back in the 1920's. They haven't assembled engines here in over 10 years after the ISX heavy duty assembly line was moved to Jamestown, NY, and the new engine is going to bring several hundred jobs to the area. I know some of you guys drive half ton pickups and want a bit more towing capacity and better fuel economy, well this should fit the bill nicely. Rated at over 300hp and 550ft-lbs of torque it should be a great package for those not wanting or needing to go up to the 3/4 or 1ton trucks."
Before Chrysler filed bankruptcy, plans were for the new Titan to be a re-badged Dodge. I wonder if those plans are back on? Leaves some wiggle room for them to switch over if the VM doesn't work out.
I think MOPAR missed out on another opportunity there- work with EPA and Cummins to develop a plug-and-play crate motor that will easily fit into a muscle-era car.
Will at least have to have a look at the Titan once it hits the market.

At any rate, for buyers looking for fuel efficiency, I just can't see the 5L V8 turbodiesel competing with a 3L V6 turbodiesel.
A full-size truck that gets low-20's in the city, and 30-ish on the highway?
I'd would consider owning one as a daily driver.
