New First Gen Project
New First Gen Project
Hello, and thanks to all prior contributors to this forum. I've found the "Sticky", downloaded necessary wiring diagrams, reviewed a few very cool fixes, and am now racing to keep up with all the information (as opposed to searching all over the place with the broken part in one hand, and the thumb on the opposite hand stuck firmly up my gear case).
I've had my 91.5 D350 ctd for five days now, fixed the kdp/cap immediately, am now installing a new ignition key switch, and tracking down a short in the door/dome lighting circuit. I spent most of yesterday cleaning out the cab (prior farm truck) before starting the interior work. I hope to get the valves adjusted before the weekend...

eye candy
Thanks Derek, I'm using most of my self control to try and stay focused on priority maintenance & fixes as I rehab this trusty old Dodge. I was too freaked out about the KDP issue to stop at the car wash on the 50 mile drive home the night I bought the truck, so today (day 8) was the day. I sure don't see any reason to get covered in old grease each time you touch a vehicle. Especially if it's a very intimate sort of touching in that sensitive area between the pump and the power steering unit... Today I spent 2 hours, $20, and 3 cheap beers at the car wash (what better way to convince yourself to wait for hot metal to cool before applying cold water...). Admittedly, I scoured the whole undercarriage, not just the engine. Still, that was all the time I had for my truck this weekend. I'll get back on the job just as soon as I get everybodys darn minivans put back together...
This old truck did come pre-wired with aftermarket tach, brake pressure gauge, and pyro. Of course, none of it works, and also the gauge pod was velcro stuck to the dash. Workable, but I'd sure like to go for more of a custom built-in look after I've corrected some of the more glaring deficits, likethe squishy brake pedal issue...
