First truck project
First truck project
so i got a 93 dodge club cab and i noticed to day when my dad brought it home that when he put it in gear a bunch of black smoke came billowing out the exhaust. Hopefully its not the injectors. Any other ideas what it could be?
By "put it in gear" do you mean he shifted from Park to Drive, or he let the clutch out?
It doesn't sound like injectors in any case, most likely someone has been messing with the smoke screw and has it in too far. Read the sticky about pump tweaking to learn about adjusting the smoke screw.

Congrats on your 1st truck. you should fill out your signature in the "USER CP" at the top left of the forum.
This way we know what Kind of transmission you have and maybe why it's smoking.
Did he rev it up when he put it in gear or just idling it was blowing black??

we noticed it when he was backing it up into our driveway and when we would put it in park it would stop. so once we got it back behind the gate we tried to figure out what was wrong with it but we had no luck
If its smoking that bad at idle or really low throttle you got some issues do you know if the PO had the pump turned up, any ideas of when the fuel filter was last changed, and finally Wanna knows her stuff she has never given any wrong info to any of us so follow what she says and u won't likely go wrong
