Is a Dodge Diesel for me?

Is a Dodge Diesel for me?
My sister is getting out of college soon and will be giving her my truck(good big brother). I was thinking of getting a 5.7L Tundra. But also considering diesel.
Have always had my eye on diesel trucks. Due to size and power. However would a Dodge diesel be a good choice for my style of driving or a waste of money?
-would not be towing anything.
-would be my daily driver
-short trips(home->work->back home->gym->back home)
-good mix of highway and city(stop and go traffic)
The only thing in my favor is I do like to keep my automobiles for 8 or 9 years.
Any suggestions or feedback would be appreciated. Just playing around with the idea right now.

no pullin and short trips don't require a big bad diesel. from what your describing, it looks like a gasser would be a good fit. gassers last 8 or 9 years too.

If you do get a Dodge, you need to either get a 5.9 or do the deletes on a 6.7.
I don't tow very often with mine, it's my dd, and it works well for me. A little more expensive than a gasser, but I have a good time with it.

But its funny. I live in Fort Worth and I see a ton of diesel trucks and they look more like road queens then work machines. Most are never pulling a trailer under any kind of load. My thinking was if they are capable of heavy duty type work. Certainly they can be used for daily driving(my logic could be backwards).
