Fuel? Filter? Fuel pressure? Codes?

Give as much info as possible, and I'm sure the folks here will give you some ideas.

See my lift pump posts in 3rd gen engine and drivetrain. The one post has a troubleshooting sequence.

Remember, a diesel needs four things to be able to start. Fuel, Air, Compression, and Injection. Take out any one of those and your engine won't start.

If your truck ran well then just would not restart I would suspect an air leak. the rubber lines are prone to develop small leaks whick will cause no start.
as the others have posted the lp can be problematic but simple to diagnose just pop the ff lid and bump the key, it will be messy if it is working and it will not give you a solild pressure reading, but you only need a wee bit of fp to start, if you get no fuel you know where to look, if you get fuel I would start replacing the rubber lines.

Sound like you "NEED" to install a fuel pressure guage! I highly suggest you get one soon or it might be the death of you VP44...
