won't idle

Hi Guys, I know this is mainly for Diesels, but I need some help. My wife ran her Jeep out of gas and after I put some in, it started right up so I took it and filled the tank. Now it will only start if you play with the pedal, and won't idle at all....Any ideas outside of murder would really be appreciated......

the only thing I can think of is to bleed the fuel lines, you may have air in them

Thanks for the response. After I did the post, I unhooked the battery and drained all the power off the system. About 30 minutes later I reconnected the battery and it started just like it was suppose to, that is until this morning. The same ol' thing has happened again, I fear something more sinister is going on..........

Possible dirty throttle valve, get injection cleaner and a tooth brush and give it a good old fashion cleaning.

you might check fuel pressure as running the pump dry might have caused something to not go right.....if the pressure is low...it will run like junk.....

not real likely that you sucked sludge up as you would have done that with just normal driving as the pickup sucks off the bottom of the tank.....

I would start with fuel pressure...then go from there.....

You have spark as its running..somewhat! haha.....ALSO check for codes.....dont know if the "3 key on" trick works for all DC vechs or not.....
