Wheels Spacers????

I'm currently in the middle of rotating the tires on my truck. I have never noticed it before but my passenger side front wheel has a spacer on it and the drivers side does not. Do I need this spacer for any reason on that side cause if not I'm going to take it off. I will come back and check this thread before I finish up. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I think I read somewhere that the spacer corrects a slight pull to one side under hard braking. Mike

hmmmmmmmm. I know up to '99 the the rotor's and the bearing unit where pressed together, and that '00 and newer the rotor's will just sit on the bearing unit. But I've never seen a spacer. We just did the brakes on our '99service truck and I just did my brakes yesterday........no spacers.

I think I'm going to pull this spacer off and see what happens. Worst case I have to put it back on. I would probably say the spacer is about an 1/8 thick or so. That is just rougly guessing.

And to answer the question early, yes if you look hard at it you can tell its offset.

I also want to note that I have always had excessive wear out of the passenger side tire.

This was the Coprorate "FIX" for the "Pulling to one side when braking" problem that many early 2nd genners experienced.
Spacing one wheel out slightly changed the leverage "correcting" the problem.

The spacers were a bandaid fix that came in three thickness and didn't work. Many times they get transfered to the wrong wheel in a tire rotation. All the people I've known of who have removed the spacer have noticed absolutely no difference.

Yes, my 99 had the spacer on the right front as well. When changing a blowout, I noticed it and was wondering the samething. Threw it in the back of the truck and haven't noticed any difference.
