Water leak!

I have a leak on the passenger side of my truck. I have pulled the cowl off and checked everything and there is nothing unusual. It is getting underneith my carpet and it is making my truck smell great. This is usually not a big deal because I am in Az but there is supposed to be a big storm comming soon and I need to get this fixed. What other points can I check?

Thanks

Sounds like your heater core is plugged up or something like that.

Anyone have any clue what joints I need to focus on or what I need to do to get to them?

I would check out the AC drain first. A shot of compressed air in the end of the hose may solve the problem. Many vehicles run the AC when in defrost mode, using it as a dehumidifier.

The truck still leaks when not running at all. So I know something is not sealing right.

Sounds to me like your heater core is leaking. You said its making your cab smell, but what does it smell like? If it smells like antifreeze then I am 99% sure that your heater core sprung a leak.

No my heater core is fine, the smell is from the mildew inside the cab from the damp carpet.

Ahhhh, I see. Then I would put my money on the A/C drain tube. Crawl under your truck. Around the passenger side area is a tube that comes down from the heater core / A/C area. That tube is most likely clogged either in the tube or where it connects to the box. This tube serves as the condensate drain so it doesn't flood the A/C box and water won't come pouring out your vents. I believe that the water is coming out of your floor vent on the passenger side a soaking your carpet. Clear the clog and your problem should go away.

There were a number of places that water could leak on the 94-95 trucks and end up on the passenger floor board. The third brake light seal, the rear window seal, and the windshield itself. I've had to strip the seats and carpet out of a couple of trucks and sit inside it while the wash boys soaked it down to find leaks such as these. Heater core prob is pretty obvious as the coolant tends not to evaporate and will smell like coolant. Putting an extension on the hvac drain is a good idea, but with as dry as it is in our area condensation from the evap is pretty rare compared to the rest of the country. Since you need to pull the carpet out and let the sun deoderize it anyways that will be a good time to spray it down and see where the water comes from. You running hot teams this year? I linked your screen name with your sig here. Jay M-10

J body, that is why I have the same screen names on everything . I think i am going to have to pull the carpet(rubber crap) and see what is going on . I am running hot teams this year when I can. I have work and school to deal with now so I am pretty busy. I am going run the truck hopefully next friday.

I'm loaded up and heading your way saturday morning for the PSCA race out at Speedworld. Look me up if you go, not too many Dodge Miradas at the race track.
